Inspection activities
The inspector observed the childminder and children in the childminder's home and garden. The inspector discussed the learning that was taking place with the childminder. The inspector took account of the views of parents and children. The inspector spoke with the childminder about her understanding of safeguarding and first aid. The inspector looked at some documentation, including the childminder's policies and children's records.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is outstanding
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder is extremely diligent in ensuring her knowledge remains current. She has a very secure understanding of what to do if she is concerned about a child's welfare. She makes ongoing reviews of what she does, always looking for ways in which to build further on her already outstanding practice. For example, she recognises that she could make even more use of mealtimes to continue extending children's learning. The childminder makes use of an extensive range of professional development opportunities and fully reflects on her learning to further develop her already excellent teaching. For example, to provide a highly stimulating learning environment for all children. She builds very strong partnerships with other professionals, both to support children and to continue to expand her own understanding and knowledge of how children learn.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is outstanding
The childminder delivers inspiring teaching. She uses her expert knowledge to support learning in a way that is best suited to each child's individual progress, personality and interests. For example, she knows which children need focused, adult help and which children benefit from time and space to independently practise their developing skills. Younger children grow in confidence to practise the songs they have learned elsewhere in the security of the childminder's home. Older children explore a vast range of mathematical ideas, and they handle money and build water chutes. All children develop extremely good speaking and listening skills.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are outstanding
Children develop a very strong understanding of the benefits of following healthy routines. For example, they explain to visitors the importance of, and techniques for, washing germs from their hands. They show a very thorough understanding of how to meet their own needs. For example, even younger children know where to find their shoes and try to put them on before going outside. They behave very well for their age. The childminder is extremely successful at making children feel welcome and valued. For example, she displays their photos alongside those of her own family and shows great interest in their homes and families. Children respond by showing their delight in their time with her.
p.3
Outcomes for children are outstanding
All children make excellent progress from their starting points. They develop into very enthusiastic learners. All children develop a very strong sense of themselves as capable and valuable individuals. They develop an equally strong understanding of the value of the similarities and differences between themselves and others. By the time children are ready to start school they have a superb set of skills, including those in early mathematics and literacy.
