Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder is aware of the signs that may suggest a child is at risk of harm. She knows where to report concerns about a child in her care. The childminder assesses her home for risks and uses safety equipment to stop younger children accessing certain parts of her home. The childminder talks to parents at the beginning and end of each day. She shares information about children's learning and how parents can further support children's good progress at home. The childminder shares information about children's learning with other early years settings that they attend to support consistency. She attends training courses to extend her professional development. Recent training helps her to support children's communication and language skills effectively. The childminder monitors her assistant's practice to maintain consistently good quality teaching.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder knows children's interests and plans for these in her setting. She provides children with a wide range of resources inside and outdoors that is easily accessible, supporting children's independence. The childminder takes children to explore the fields around her property. She encourages them to look at the different coloured leaves on plants and trees. Children learn about their environment and the natural world. The childminder encourages children to develop a love of books. They snuggle up to her as she talks about images in the book and counts objects on a page. This promotes children's mathematical development.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder provides an inviting and friendly environment for children. Settling-in sessions are effective in helping children get to know the childminder and her home. Children settle quickly and demonstrate that they feel safe and secure. Children are sociable and make friends with other children. They develop the key skills in readiness for their move on to school. Children develop their physical skills in the extensive garden. They climb up steps to a slide and walk along wooden beams. The childminder stays close to them to support younger children if needed. This helps to maintain children's safety. Children laugh with the childminder's assistant and other children when they hide behind trees and bushes.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children make good progress from their starting points. They are confident to explore and develop their interests. Children play with electronic toys and press buttons, listening to the sounds made. They demonstrate good listening skills and follow simple instructions.
