This provision is good
The childminder manages her setting well and demonstrates a good knowledge and understanding of the requirements. She implements this successfully in her practice to support good outcomes for children. Children make good progress in their leaning relative to their starting points. The childminder's observations and assessments are effective in helping her to identify any gaps in their learning, which she addresses well through the planning process. Parents express good levels of satisfaction with the quality of their children's care and development. The childminder regularly shares information with parents about children's achievements and progress. This helps to promote continuity of care and learning. The childminder provides a warm and nurturing environment. She organises space and resources well indoors and outdoors, to provide children with a good variety of learning opportunities. Children confidently make choices to extend and develop their play.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not support children's knowledge and understanding of similarities and differences in people in the world around them as well as other aspects of their learning. The childminder does not consistently maximise opportunities for babies to access natural resources to routinely explore and discover different textures in daily play.

What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of interactions between the childminder and children. The inspector looked at some of the childminder's documentation, including children's records, written policies, and suitability records for household members. The inspector spoke to parents prior to the inspection and took account of their views. The inspector spoke with the childminder at appropriate times during the inspection. The inspector completed a joint evaluation of an activity with the childminder.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has a clear understanding of child protection issues and she takes the necessary steps to ensure children are safe in her care. She knows what action to take should she have any concerns about a child's welfare. In addition, she checks her home regularly to help ensure it is a safe and suitable environment to help keep children safe from harm. The childminder regularly evaluates her setting. For example, she reviews the activities and experiences that children take part in to see how they can be improved. The childminder keeps her knowledge and skills up to date effectively. She provides her assistant with good professional support to make sure she has the knowledge and skills to extend children's learning well.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder interacts well with children. She enthusiastically engages in their play, following their interests and extending their learning further. For example, when young children show an interest in exploring the interactive resources, the childminder shows them how to press the buttons to make sounds. In addition, as children spend time looking at books, the childminder uses this opportunity to read to them. The childminder supports children's speaking skills well. For example, she models clear language and repeats words back when very young children are learning how to pronounce them. The childminder enables younger children who are practising their crawling to have lots of open space and opportunities to chase balls and cars around.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children show a strong sense of belonging and form trusting bonds with the childminder. The childminder gathers information from parents about their children's individual care needs, routines and interests during their settling-in period. She uses this information to support the emotional and physical needs of the children. The childminder is a good role model and provides a consistent, positive approach to managing children's behaviour. She teaches children the importance of sharing and working together. Children learn the benefits of a healthy lifestyle. They wash their hands before they eat a range of healthy meals and snacks. Children have regular opportunities to play outside. They are able to develop and practise a range of skills, for example, as they play in the garden.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children develop skills they need for their future learning. They strive to achieve. For example, they concentrate intently as they attempt finely coordinated movements. Young children communicate well and use simple words. They thoroughly enjoy looking at and sharing books with the childminder. This prepares children for future writing and reading.
