This provision is good
Staff are good role models who provide children with clear rules and boundaries, and help them to share and take turns. For example, staff make effective use of various sand timers to help children to learn turn-taking skills. Children's behaviour is good. Leaders support staff well. They regularly observe their teaching and provide staff with helpful feedback and relevant training. They also obtain the views of staff about each other's performance to help identify any support required. The quality of teaching and learning is of a good standard. Staff use observations and children's interests effectively to plan activities that closely match their individual learning needs. Children are happy, confident and ready to learn through play. They make good progress in their learning from their starting points. Self-evaluation is accurate and ambitious. Leaders and managers strive to implement new ideas and improve the outcomes for children.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
Staff do not always share precise information about children's next steps in learning with parents to support continuity in learning and development at home as much as possible. Staff do not always provide enough opportunities for children who prefer to learn outdoors to develop their writing and mark-making skills.

What the setting needs to do to improve further

Inspection activities
The inspector observed children taking part in a range of activities, indoors and outdoors. The inspector spoke with staff and observed their teaching. The inspector carried out a joint observation with the manager. The inspector spoke to parents and children, and took account of their views. The inspector sampled a wide range of documentation, including staff suitability checks, children's development records and attendance registers.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. Staff have a strong understanding of child protection issues and know what to do if they are worried about the safety and welfare of a child. They understand the relevant procedures to follow regarding an allegation against another member of staff. The manager successfully tracks the progress of individual and groups of children. Accurate assessments of children's good progress from their starting points help staff to identify their next steps for learning. Staff work very closely with other professionals to ensure that children who are not meeting their expected milestones are fully supported.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The quality of teaching is good. Qualified and experienced staff sensitively join in with children's play to support their emerging interests and next steps in learning. Children have good opportunities to develop their communication and language skills. For example, they join in enthusiastically with favourite songs, rhymes and stories. Staff set up the learning environment well, using a range of materials and resources that add challenges and fun to children's experiences. For example, children independently choose to paint and thread pasta tubes, developing their scissor skills as they cut strings and spread glue and paint with toothbrushes. Staff expertly extend children's developing awareness of literacy. For instance, they encourage children to pretend to read labels on tins of food in the play kitchen and to attempt to write their names using the initial letter and the sound it represents. Staff successfully support children's understanding of mathematics through a

Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children learn about their own and other people's similarities and differences. For example, they learn about festivals of other cultures and staff explain to children why some people are different from others. Children follow good hygiene routines and eat healthy snacks. They develop good physical skills, for instance, as they enjoy playing outdoors. Staff complete detailed risk assessments to ensure the safety of the children. In addition, children complete their own risk assessments using tick sheets and confidently report their findings to the staff.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children have good opportunities to make choices in their learning and develop their independence well. All children make good progress, including those who speak English as an additional language and those who have special educational needs and/or disabilities. Children are prepared well for their next stages in learning and acquire the skills they need for their move on to school. They form friendships and good social skills, and become confident communicators.
