This provision is good
Children are very independent in the childminder's care. From a young age, children begin to attempt to manage their clothing and personal hygiene. There is a very stimulating outdoor and indoor environment which supports all areas of learning. A high priority is placed on children accessing resources independently. Children behave well. The childminder has clear rules and routines, which she consistently reinforces. Good explanations help children to understand why these rules are important. Children make good progress. The childminder uses her assessments well to identify what children need to learn next and uses this information effectively to plan stimulating activities. The childminder has a good relationship with local schools. They work together effectively to ensure a consistent approach to supporting children's learning.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
Although partnerships with parents are good, the childminder does not routinely gather enough information from parents about children's learning and achievements when children first start. The childminder's self-evaluation is not yet sharply focused on raising the quality of teaching even further.
p.1
What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching during activities and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector completed an evaluation of an activity with the childminder. The inspector reviewed some relevant documentation. She also discussed the childminder's self-evaluation. The inspector spoke with the childminder and children at appropriate times during the inspection. The inspector checked evidence of the childminder's qualifications and evidence of the suitability of all adults living and working on the premises.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder places a high priority on children's safety. She has a good understanding of the procedures she should follow if she has a concern about the welfare of a child in her care. She ensures information, such as contact numbers, is correct. Her home is very safe. The childminder is committed to her own professional development. She has attended all mandatory training and strengthened her understanding of recent developments. The childminder monitors her provision and takes effective action when she identifies areas where further support is needed.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
Children are motivated to learn. The childminder adapts her planning according to children's emerging interests. Children demonstrate good levels of concentration as they explore water and wash some dishes. They laugh and giggle as they squeeze soapy water from sponges. The childminder is well qualified. She has a good understanding of how to support children's play and learning. She gives children time to follow their interests and gives support and challenge as appropriate. For example, she shows young children how to use scissors and gives them time to practise and refine this skill. Communication and language is supported effectively. The childminder adapts her language effectively when talking to babies and toddlers.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children are cared for in a home-from-home environment, where they feel like part of the family. Children have a very good relationship with the childminder and other children. The childminder knows children extremely well. She is highly vigilant and responds quickly when babies show signs of tiredness or toddlers need to use the toilet. This supports their emotional well-being. Flexible settling-in procedures help children to settle quickly into the childminder's care. The childminder supports children's physical development effectively. Activities in the childminder's garden, such as running and climbing, support their large- muscle skills. Regular visits to soft-play centres and the park support this further.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children are confident learners who are well prepared for school. They make good progress and are working at a typical level for their age. Children learn how to keep themselves safe outside and understand about dangers in the kitchen. Babies extend their physical skills as they explore the environment. Toddlers expand their vocabulary as they talk freely to the childminder. Older children develop into confident communicators. They learn how to use tools and materials safely, such as scissors.
