This provision is good
Children are happy and confident in the childminder's care. The childminder provides a secure and welcoming environment to children. As a result, children settle quickly and feel secure in the setting. Opportunities for children to develop their understanding of healthy lifestyles are good. Children are taught to follow good hygiene routines and benefit from regular play outdoors. The childminder has good partnerships with parents. She shares daily feedback on their child's day, both in terms of their care and any pertinent learning. She offers ideas on how to continue children's learning in the home environment. Children's communication and spoken skills are promoted well. The childminder provides meaningful conversation and commentary as children play. She repeats back what children have said to aid their development further.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
Occasionally the childminder does not always help children deepen their understanding of valuing and respecting each other and their environment. The childminder does not consistently use information gathered from observing the children to prioritise the next steps in their learning, in order to help them make the best possible progress.

What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching during activities indoors and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector evaluated the range of activities on offer with the childminder. The inspector took account of parents' views of the setting through written statements. The inspector spoke to the childminder and children at appropriate times during the inspection. The inspector looked at relevant documentation and evidence of the suitability of all adults living in the setting.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder has a good understanding of local safeguarding procedures and attends regular training to ensure her knowledge is up to date. She fully understands her responsibilities to report any concerns regarding children's welfare. Comprehensive risk assessments are in place and followed. This helps to ensure children are kept safe in the home and garden, as well as on outings. The childminder ensures mandatory training is completed. She continually reflects on her practice to help her change and adapt practice in order to improve her provision and the outcomes for children. The childminder works well in partnership with parents, as well as other settings children attend. She obtains information from parents about what children know and can do when they start in her care. She uses this to establish clear starting points for children's learning.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder knows the children well in her care and, overall, plans and provides a good range of play and experiences to aid their learning. She recognises that all children are unique and uses their interests to help them have fun and enjoy their play. For example, when children show an interest in fish she provides opportunities for them to explore this further through creative play and role play. Children show good imagination as they use play knives to cut bread and make cups of tea. They show good dexterity as they cut up a banana at snack and roll the dough to make a, 'Wiggly worm'. Babies enjoy pushing buttons and respond with delight to the sounds made when this occurs.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Babies are beginning to develop their physical skills. They pull themselves to standing using accessible toys and furniture, reaching out and grasping toys that interest them. Children have access to a good range of resources that is suitable for their age and which promote their learning. Children benefit from regular outings to toddler groups. This helps them to develop their independence and social skills. Children are learning to manage their personal hygiene as they wash their hands before meals and snacks. The childminder helps children learn how to be safe. She reminds them to pick up toys to prevent a tripping hazard and ensures all children practise the fire drill on a regular basis.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
All children make good progress in their learning and are well prepared for school. They show good physical skills as they handle and use tools well and in safety. Children show good coordination as they move around their environment safely and without bumping into others. Younger children's early writing skills develop as they use brushes and crayons to create their own artwork.
