This provision is good
The childminder uses her secure knowledge of how children learn and her assessments of children's abilities to plan a variety of activities that supports their development well. She shares her assessments and planning with parents to provide continuity in children's learning and development. The childminder continues to develop her teaching skills to maintain good outcomes for children. For example, she uses her training in communication and language very well to help children to develop strong speaking and listening skills. Children behave very well and develop good social skills. The childminder teaches children to be considerate of other people's feelings and needs. For example, she helps children to understand why they should take turns with favourite toys. The childminder provides daily opportunities for children to be physically active and lead healthy lifestyles. For example, children regularly take part in exciting and

educational activities in local woodlands.

It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not consistently gather detailed information from parents about what children already know and can do, to support her in planning more effectively from the outset. There are few opportunities for children to learn about diversity in cultures and the differences between their lives and those of other people.

Inspection activities
The inspector observed children taking part in activities and assessed the quality of the childminder's teaching. The inspector looked at a range of documentation, including the childminder's self- evaluation, her policies and children's records. The inspector spoke to the childminder and children at appropriate times throughout the inspection. The inspector took into account the written views of parents.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder understands her responsibilities in safeguarding children's welfare. She has a secure understanding of how to identify and manage child protection concerns. The childminder reflects on her practice thoroughly and makes improvements to enhance the care and learning experiences she provides for children. For example, the childminder has worked closely with other professionals to develop her assessment systems to enable her to monitor children's progress more closely. The childminder has developed effective partnerships with other early years settings attended by minded children to ensure a consistent approach to their care and development.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder adapts learning experiences very well to meet children's individual learning needs. For example, during story time, older children enjoy thinking of words beginning with the same letter sounds and the childminder teaches younger children words to extend their growing vocabulary. The childminder interacts with children effectively during activities to extend their learning. For example, she supported their developing literacy skills well by encouraging them to write down her order during a café role-play activity. The childminder provides a wide range of resources that sparks children's imaginations and enables them to make choices in their play. For example, children enjoyed investigating the footprints left by different toy animals in play dough.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder is consistently caring, kind and calm in her approach. She supports children well to develop high levels of confidence and independence; for example, through using plenty of praise and encouragement. All children are content and they enjoy the comfort gained from snuggling up with the childminder during story times. The childminder meets children's care needs well. For example, she uses regular conversations and a daily diary to communicate with parents to provide continuity in children's routines. Children learn how to keep themselves safe from harm. For example, the childminder teaches them to use scissors safely. Children have many opportunities to socialise with large groups of children, such as during visits to childminding groups.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
All children make good progress and develop strong skills that prepare them well for school. They are confident learners who like to use their imaginations to set their own challenges. For example, children have fun walking around a course while balancing beanbags on their heads. Children develop strong mathematical skills. For example, children enjoy learning about numerals and addition as they use an electronic till.
