This provision is good
The childminder is dedicated to providing a safe and stimulating environment for children. She builds close relationships with children and is highly regarded by parents. The childminder understands each child's interests and different ways of learning. She endeavours to provide children with toys and experiences that they can explore and enjoy. This helps them to develop good listening and attention skills that facilitate their all-round development. Children appear happy and settled in the childminder's care. She ensures that children's individual care needs are met. She works in close partnership with parents to exchange daily information about what children have been doing. The childminder has high expectations for what children can learn to do for themselves. Children understand the importance of helping to tidy away toys that they are not playing with so they have enough space to play.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder gathers good information about children's milestones and achievements. However, she does not always use her good knowledge of what children can do to very precisely assess their progress and fully enhance their learning. The childminder does not always identify where she can continue to build on her good knowledge to enhance her practice and awareness of current guidance even further.

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching during activities and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector reviewed a planned activity with the childminder. The inspector looked at relevant documentation with regards to children's welfare and safety. The inspector took account of the views of parents from their comments in questionnaires and children's records. The inspector viewed information regarding the suitability of the childminder and household.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder understands what to do if she has concerns regarding children's welfare and safety. She continues to update her knowledge of wider safeguarding issues. She attends training that helps her to ensure children's welfare and safety. The childminder has a good awareness of each child's development. She adapts her teaching so that they have many opportunities to achieve their next steps for learning. Parents are asked to share their views on the quality of the service the childminder provides. This helps the childminder to plan for future arrangements. The childminder works in partnership with the other early years settings that some children also attend. She finds out about how children are getting on and uses this information to help her to plan a complementary programme of activities.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder uses children's interest and love of books to help enhance and build on their learning. The quality of teaching is good. The childminder understands how some children learn from repeatedly looking at favourite pictures of animals. When the childminder says the names of the animals, children excitedly and confidently attempt to say the correct noise of the animal. The childminder enables children to investigate and explore. Children show fascination as they recognise that quantities change as they tip soil from pots during planting activities. The childminder takes the time to help children master the small-muscle skills that support them to use tools and equipment.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder helps children to understand daily routines and boundaries which help to promote positive behaviour. Very young children recognise when they are tired and they settle themselves into a chair to rest. Children build a close bond with the childminder who is affectionate and warm towards them. Mealtimes are social events where the childminder and children sit together to eat. The childminder puts a strong focus on teaching children good manners and social skills. Children thoroughly enjoy exploring the garden where they play ball games and crawl through tunnels. These experiences help to keep them active and promote their physical development.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children make good progress. Young children show that they are interested in exploring the world around them. They are beginning to share and take turns which fosters positive friendships with their peers. Children are capable and motivated learners. They confidently make choices for what they would like to do and are keen to interact with others. This helps prepare them for the next stage in their development and eventual move to school.
