They explain how the diverse mix of staff contributes very well to meeting all children's needs. They are given useful information about their children's experience in club are very happy with the care provided. Staff have a good knowledge of how to protect children and keep them safe. Children behave well and enjoy helping staff. Children thoroughly enjoy their time at the club. They happily take part in a wide range of experiences, including active sporting activities and indoor games. They have opportunities to select their own resources and take quiet time out if they choose to. Children's views of the club are very positive. They say they love having the opportunity to play football, have a great range of choice in the foods they eat and they don't feel at all like they are still in school.

This provision is good
Staff promote children's health and well-being throughout the session. Children follow good hygiene routines, learn about healthy eating and get plenty of fresh air.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The organisation of snack time is not particularly effective. Younger children become restless from sitting too long. The manager does not focus as sharply as possible on staff's professional development to continually extend their skills and knowledge.

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of practice during activities indoors and outdoors. The inspector spoke with staff and children during the inspection. The inspector spoke to parents during the inspection and took account of their views. The inspector held a meeting with the manager and looked at relevant documentation.

Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The manager is supportive of staff obtaining additional childcare qualifications to ensure she has a well-qualified team. Staff understand the possible signs and symptoms of abuse and know what to do if they have any concerns. Staff know their roles and responsibilities and work together well. They are deployed well and are vigilant about children's safety. Secure entry and exit procedures ensure that children cannot leave unattended and parents need to be let in by a member of staff. Attendance records are accurate to ensure children are always accounted for and staff obtain up-to-date information from teachers if children are absent. Staff work closely with staff at the host school to ensure that children's needs are well known and met. The manager evaluates her setting well and works with staff and parents to identify areas for improvement.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
Staff are experienced and have worked at the club for long periods. High-quality interactions and sensitive support help children achieve what they set out to do. For example, very young children help to pass around a tray of snacks to their friends, with gentle encouragement and advice on how to support the tray. Staff make good use of the outdoor environment. Older children are engrossed in an active football game, skilfully assisted by staff. Outdoor play is diverse and children have opportunities to sit in the sun and enjoy a drink while playing at being sisters in an elaborate make-believe game. Children have access to a good range of books and confidently approach staff to sit and read with them. Staff also support children with their homework if they choose to do this at the club.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Staff support children's understanding of safety well. Children are very familiar with the rules and where they can play outdoors. They explain that if staff sound a whistle they must stop what they are doing and go to the staff immediately. They know that one school boundary is next to a public path and do not go into this area. Staff support children's self-confidence as they encourage children to make to make their own decisions when others try to influence what they should eat and drink. Children proudly show off their certificates of achievement from school, and praise from staff reinforces their sense of achievement. Staff are calm and attentive to children's needs and take their views into account when choosing activities and resources for the session. This builds children's confidence when making decisions and helps to ensure they are engaged and interested.
