This provision is good
The childminder builds strong bonds with children, who are very happy, settled and secure. She is very caring and supportive and consistently interacts with children in a calm and positive way. The childminder takes children to a variety of activities within the community to help broaden their experiences. Children meet and interact with new people and effectively build their early social skills. Parent partnerships are good. The childminder encourages regular two-way communication about children's interests, learning and welfare. The childminder supports children's communication skills well. For example, she encourages plenty of conversation about their interests and home lives. Children express themselves well and make good progress from their starting points in learning. Children make choices from a wide variety of good quality resources that provides interest and challenge for them.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not always use the evaluation of her practice to further identify her ongoing professional needs. On occasion, the childminder does not make full use of opportunities for children to pursue their interests further in making marks and exploring early writing.

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching during activities indoors and outdoors and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector looked at a selection of documentation, including children's information, training certificates and evidence of the suitability checks for all adults living in the household. The inspector observed children involved in a planned activity and discussed the outcomes of the activity with the childminder. The inspector reviewed written comments from parents and took account of their views of the service provided by the childminder. The inspector held conversations with the childminder and children throughout the inspection.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder knows the procedures to follow if she has any concerns about a child's welfare, to protect children from harm. The childminder keeps all areas safe and conducts regular risk assessments in the home and for outings so that she can minimise any potential hazards. This helps to protect the safety and well-being of children. There is a good two-way exchange of information with other early years settings where children attend. The childminder successfully provides experiences that complement what children are learning elsewhere. The childminder uses accurate evaluations of her provision, including checks on children's progress, to ensure she maintains good standards and closes any gaps in children's learning.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
Children enjoy a wide variety of stimulating experiences that the childminder plans based on her good knowledge of their interests and learning needs. They make good progress in their development. The childminder provides many opportunities for children to play and learn outdoors. They regularly visit the park and woods where they are able to use their large-muscle skills for climbing and running. Children also benefit from spending time in the childminder's spacious garden. They have fun playing in water, filling and emptying containers and problem solving how the water makes a wheel spin round. Children enjoy taking turns on the slide and playing ball games. They develop a good understanding of mathematical concepts. Children count objects during their play and begin to recognise numbers and shapes.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children demonstrate that they have formed a close bond with the childminder and at times invite her to take part in their play. They spontaneously cuddle up to her and look to her for help and comfort when needed. The childminder promotes healthy eating and lifestyles. Children follow good hygiene routines. They are well behaved. The childminder supports young children's understanding of what is and is not acceptable behaviour through consistent, gentle reminders. They enjoy the positive praise provided by the childminder for their achievements.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children are confident and curious individuals who are interested in the world around them. They are learning to socialise and play alongside each other. Children concentrate well and persevere with difficult tasks, such as finishing a puzzle. They love sharing books and join in enthusiastically with stories. Children develop the key skills needed for the next stages in their learning and in readiness for school.
