This provision is good
The childminder attends relevant training and meets regularly with other professionals and childminders. This enables her to keep up to date with recent changes to guidance and legislation. The childminder provides a homely, warm and welcoming environment that encourages children to explore and investigate. Children access a wide range of age-appropriate resources and engage in purposeful play using the toys and natural materials on offer. Tailored settling-in sessions help children to settle quickly in the childminder's care. Children are happy, confident and demonstrate a strong sense of belonging. The childminder builds strong emotional attachments with children. Children's behaviour is good and the childminder praises them for their achievements. Children are encouraged to learn about good manners, such as saying please and thank you. The childminder is a good role model for children and offers plenty of praise and

encouragement to help build their self-esteem.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not always give children enough time to think about how to respond to questions. The childminder does not consistently support parents to contribute what they know their children can do at home.

build on opportunities to help children to think through ideas and to have more time to respond to questions support parents to share what they know about their child's achievements, enabling a shared approach to children's learning.
p.2
Inspection activities
The inspector took account of the written views of parents. The inspector observed the quality of teaching during activities indoors and outdoors, and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector completed a joint observation with the childminder. The inspector spoke to childminder and children at appropriate times throughout the inspection. The inspector checked evidence of the suitability of all household members over 16 years old and checked evidence of the qualifications of the childminder.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder can describe possible signs that may cause her concerns. She knows who to contact to make a referral about a child's welfare. The childminder is vigilant at all times. She carries out regular checks of the environment to help keep children safe. Potential risks within the home and garden have been identified and minimised. The childminder reviews her practice and takes parents' and children's views into consideration when planning improvements to her service. Parents' written comments show that they are extremely happy with the quality of service offered to them and their children.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The experienced childminder uses her skills and knowledge to provide plenty of opportunities for children to follow their interests and lead their own learning. She observes children and regularly reviews their development to check that they are making good progress. The childminder follows children's lead as they imitate real-life experiences. Children enjoy playing with dolls. The childminder encourages children's imagination as they take on the role of a parent and bath dolls, taking time to dry and dress them. The childminder works in close partnership with other settings that children also attend. This promotes consistency in children's experience.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder provides regular opportunities for children to gain fresh air and exercise. As they play in the garden, the childminder encourages children to understand about staying safe and managing risks. For example, they know how to safely use the slide. The children particularly enjoy walks in the local area woodlands and visits to the parks. They benefit from socialising with other children at local playgroups. Children are becoming increasingly aware of their local community and wider society. The childminder encourages children to follow good hygiene procedures and develop a very positive awareness of healthy eating.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children make good progress from their starting points. They gain the basic skills needed for the next stage in their learning and their eventual move to school. Children are growing in independence, for example, they confidently dress themselves when it is time for nursery. They recognise numbers and letters in the environment and confidently count in everyday situations. They enjoy engaging in opportunities for mark making and early writing and sing a selection of familiar songs and rhymes.
