This provision is good
Since the last inspection, the childminder has successfully addressed the recommendation raised, demonstrating good capacity for further improvement. Children are very happy and settled in the care of the childminder. They form close attachments with her and this helps to support their self-esteem and emotional well- being. The childminder provides a wide range of learning experiences to build on children's interest in the outdoors and the wider community. Children grow in confidence and are eager to play and learn. They make good progress in their learning and development. Partnerships with parents are strong. The childminder uses effective two-way communications to foster a shared approach to children's care and learning. She involves parents in the assessment process and provides them with regular updates about children's progress.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not make the most of all opportunities to question children more and consistently to extend their learning to the highest levels. Occasionally, the childminder does not take all opportunities to extend children's understanding of numbers and counting as they play, to extend their good mathematical skills.

Inspection activities
The inspector observed children playing indoors and outside and assessed the quality of teaching and learning. The inspector asked the childminder questions about her practice at appropriate times throughout the inspection. The inspector observed a planned activity and jointly evaluated this with the childminder. The inspector examined evidence of suitability and sampled a range of other documentation, including policies and procedures. The inspector took account of the written feedback from parents.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The childminder is reflective and committed to improving her professional skills. She keeps her knowledge and practice up to date. For example, she has improved her support for children's early communication based on knowledge gained in training. She meets regularly with other providers to share ideas and to keep her practice relevant. The childminder monitors children's development regularly to ensure that they are making good progress overall. This helps her to identify what children need to learn next across all areas of learning. The childminder provides additional support for children where necessary. Arrangements for safeguarding are effective. She is confident in her abilities to protect and safeguard children and supports individual children's welfare effectively.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder uses a wide range of effective strategies to promote children's communication and language skills. For example, she uses gestures and simplifies sentences to help children understand instructions. She provides children with running commentaries and talks to them during their play. The childminder plans exciting activities to support children's understanding of the world around them. For example, she assists children to build a home for mini-beasts and provides them with magnifying glasses for their examination of various objects they find.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Good settling-in procedures help to ensure children feel comfortable and at ease from the outset. Children know the house rules well and the childminder is clear about her expectations for children to show consideration and mutual respect. Their behaviour is good. Children are happy, content and confident in the childminder's care. They have good opportunities for daily exercise and fresh air. She encourages children to experience some risk and challenge to develop their physical skills. For example, in the outside environment, toddlers climb ladders safely to use the slide. Such opportunities help to extend children's confidence, social skills and physical development.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children build close relationships and learn how to cooperate well with others. They enjoy learning through play and are motivated to try out their ideas. They are able to access a balanced range of resources. Children make independent choices as they play. This helps children to develop some effective skills in preparation for their future and moving on to nursery and school. For example, children display good levels of confidence and self- esteem. They initiate their own play and interact positively with adults.
