This provision is good
The childminder manages her setting efficiently. She has a secure understanding of the statutory requirements which she implements well in her practice to promote good outcomes in children's care and learning. Children currently on roll attend school full time and the childminder complements their learning well. Children make good progress and mostly enjoy a balanced range of experiences across the different areas of learning. Children are happy and content in the childminder's care; they benefit from the close relationships they share with her. This supports their confidence and self-esteem. The childminder forms effective partnerships with parents. She shares information on a daily basis to keep them fully informed and involved in their children's care and learning.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
At times, the childminder does not make the most of outdoor opportunities to provide children with a broader range of experiences, particularly for those children who prefer learning outdoors. The childminder does not make the most of opportunities to encourage children to manage some things for themselves, such as aspects of their daily care routine.

What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

p.2
Inspection activities
The inspector observed children as they engaged in activities in the indoor learning environment. The inspector engaged in discussions with the childminder about her practice. The inspector spoke to parents and children to seek their views about the childminder's service. The inspector looked at some of the childminder's documentation, including children's records and suitability information for people living in the home.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder understands her role to promote children's safety and well-being and to protect them from harm. She has an up-to-date knowledge of safeguarding issues and the procedures to follow if she is concerned about the welfare of a child in care. The childminder maintains her home well and takes the necessary steps to minimise potential hazards. She reflects on her practice well to identify future training needs and areas she wishes to improve. She seeks parents' views about her provision, such as through questionnaires and informal discussions. Parents inform that they are happy with the childminder's provision. For example, they compliment her on her home- cooked meals and the support she provides to extend learning at home.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder has a good understanding of children's developmental needs and her role to support their learning. She knows how to use observations and assessments to identify children's achievements and address any gaps in their learning, to help them make progress. Overall, children engage in a range of interesting and challenging experiences. For example, they enjoy imaginative play, such as role play and playing with small-world toys. They show an interest in books and in general, have opportunities to access outdoors, such as to play on the large trampoline. They develop a good awareness of themselves and learn about other people from different backgrounds.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder provides a warm and child-friendly environment, where children feel safe and are happy. The childminder organises her resources effectively to enable children to make choices and engage in their own play. Children behave well and respond well to the childminder's calm and gentle approach. For example, the childminder encourages younger children to share and take turns with resources. She provides clear explanations to support children's different levels of understanding, so that they know and understand the clear boundaries in place. The childminder promotes children's physical health well. She provides them with nutritious and tasty meals that they thoroughly enjoy and encourages them to follow well-established hygiene routines. For example, children know they need to wash their hands before eating and after using the toilet.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children make good progress and gain the necessary skills to help them move on in their education and support their future learning. For instance, younger children learn to read and develop their understanding of mathematics, such as learning to handle money in their play. Older children show care and concern for younger ones, for example, helping them pour drinks and clean their faces after eating their meals.
