This provision is inadequate
Staff do not risk assess the premises and activities effectively to identify and reduce hazards and keep children safe. This is also breach of the Childcare Register requirements. Staff do not remove and manage risks and hazards on outings, such as broken glass, to keep children safe. Staff do not ensure that they obtain details of accidents that children have at school so that they can monitor children's health. Records of Disclosure and Barring Service checks for staff and committee members do not include all required details, for example, the date the check was obtained and details of who obtained it. Staff do not provide outdoor activities for children every day. Staff do not inform parents about the range and type of activities and experiences provided for the children. Leaders and managers do not use self-evaluation effectively.

Inspection activities
The inspectors observed indoor and outdoor activities and accompanied staff to collect children from the local school. The inspectors talked with children, staff and the chair of the committee at appropriate times throughout the inspection. The inspectors completed a joint observation with the manager. The inspectors sampled documentation. The inspectors took account of the views of parents spoken to during the inspection.
p.3
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is inadequate
Safeguarding is ineffective. Breaches of statutory requirements have a significant impact on children's safety and well-being. Since moving to new premises, staff do not use risk assessment to keep children safe in the premises and on outings. For example, there are stinging nettles at the entrance gate, which brush against children's legs. Staff complete risk assessments in the local park before taking children there to play. However, they then send different staff to clear away the hazards. As a result, staff do not remove all dangerous objects, such as broken glass. All staff have a secure knowledge and understanding of child protection procedures. Leaders and managers support staff to gain childcare qualifications, including staff who have special educational needs and/or disabilities. However, they do not use self-evaluation to identify and address weaknesses in staff practice that affect children's safety. Not all required information is recorded in
p.4
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment requires improvement
Children enjoy being active and listen and follow instructions, for example, during adult- led physical activities. However, staff do not identify the risk of injury to children during indoor ball games, such as crab football. For example, children wear shoes while lying on the floor and attempt to take the ball from others using their legs. Children are generally motivated in their play. They confidently and independently choose and use the activities available, such as the modelling dough to make designs. However, staff do not inform parents about the types of activities and experiences that are provided for their children. Staff teach children about some aspects of their own safety on outings. For example, children remember and say that they must not run across the road or talk to strangers.
p.4
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are inadequate
The outdoor play area in the premises is not safe for children to use. Staff take children to a nearby playground for outdoor play. However, they do not plan outdoor activities every day to support children's good health. Partnership working with the school is poor. For example, staff are unaware of any accidents that children have had at school. As a result, staff do not know to monitor children's health, which puts children's well-being at risk. Children confidently join in others' play. Staff provide children with a positive role model. For example, they motivate children to take part in activities and be active, for instance during games, such as dodgeball. Staff support children to develop social skills and motivate them to do things for themselves, for example, to select the fruit at snack time.
