feedback about how their children are progressing in their learning.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching during activities indoors and outdoors and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector spoke to children during the inspection. The inspector completed a joint observation of an activity with the childminder. The inspector held a number of discussions with the childminder. She looked at relevant documentation and evidence of the suitability of persons living in the household. The inspector took account of the views of parents through discussion and written feedback provided.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has a very good understanding of child protection issues. She knows exactly how to act should she have any concerns regarding a child's welfare. The premises are secure and safety is given high priority. This helps to protect children from harm. The childminder evaluates her provision and regularly seeks the views of parents and children, as a way of identifying areas for improvement. For example, several areas are being developed in the outdoor area as a result of children's requests. Regular assessment helps the childminder to check children's progress. She uses this information to suitably address any areas in children's learning and development that require more support.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder provides a good range of age-appropriate resources both indoors and outdoors. Children are able to independently access the resources and this motivates them to explore and learn. The childminder knows children well and uses her knowledge to provide activities that interest them. Children learn mathematical skills through their everyday experiences, such as counting pieces of fruit at snack time. Well-chosen activities ensure that all children can take part and develop their skills at an age- appropriate level. For example, a sensory activity using dry cereal was supplemented with a wide variety of tools to enable children to develop their early writing skills. Children remain engaged in their activities for long periods of time.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children's behaviour is good and they use good manners. Children are confident in new and social situations. They happily talk to visitors, demonstrating they feel secure. They play together well and older children support younger children in their play. Children are encouraged to show kindness to each other and are praised for their achievements. The childminder makes good use of the wider community, taking children to many local places, such as the park and the beach. This gives children the opportunity to learn about the wider world. Children at times, independently follow hygiene routines.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children are happy, confident learners. They make consistently good rates of progress in relation to their starting points. Children are prepared well for the next stages of their education, including their move to school. Children are keen to take on a challenge and are motivated and eager to join in. They show a willingness and persistence to have a go and keep on trying.
