This provision is good
Children develop positive relationships and close emotional attachments with the childminder. They demonstrate that they feel safe and secure in the childminder's home. The childminder gets to know children well and plans activities to develop their interests. She uses observations and assessments to help her ensure that children make good progress in their learning. Children enjoy fresh air and daily exercise in the childminder's garden or when out and about in the local community. The childminder supports children to develop their communication and language skills. She repeats words back to children, so they hear the correct pronunciation of words. This helps children to develop their speaking skills. The childminder works in partnership with parents well. She talks to them daily and keeps them up to date about their child's progress. She provides them with support to help them continue children's learning at home.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not consistently share information about children's learning with all other early years settings that children attend, to further support continuity. The childminder does not provide children with enough opportunities to develop their understanding of growth, decay and changes over time.
p.1
What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching during activities indoors and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector completed a joint observation of an activity with the childminder. The inspector held discussions with the childminder. She looked at relevant documentation and evidence of the suitability of persons living in the household. The inspector spoke to children during the inspection. The inspector took account of the views of parents through the written feedback provided.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has completed child protection training and is aware of her responsibilities to keep children safe. She assesses risks in her home and minimises these before children arrive. The childminder extends her professional development by attending training courses and sharing good practice with other childminders. This helps her to keep up to date with changes in childcare practice and to improve the experiences children receive in her care. The childminder gathers feedback form parents about ways in which she can improve her practice to increase outcomes for children. Parents comment positively about the childminder and say that she helps to instil confidence in their children.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder encourages children to solve problems in their play. She talks to them about how looking at the edges of puzzle pieces can help children to fit them together. This promotes children's mathematical development. The childminder plans activities to help her to support children's good progress. She takes children to the park to help develop their physical skills. The childminder stays close to children when they climb up steps to give them reassurance and to boost their confidence and ability to achieve. Children learn about their environment. The childminder takes them for walks and talks to children about the weather and how to cross the road safely. This helps children to learn about how to keep themselves safe.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children behave very well. The childminder takes turns with children when playing alongside them. She is a good role model and gives children lots of praise and encouragement. This helps to boost their self-esteem and confidence. The childminder gathers information from parents when children first start, about their care and learning needs. This helps the childminder to support children's well-being and to plan purposeful learning experiences to help children to progress in their development. The childminder encourages children to be independent. For example, older children use the toilet on their own. The childminder gives them gently reminders to wash their hands afterwards to promote good hygiene practice.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children make good progress in their learning and learn key skills in readiness for their move on to school. Children develop their knowledge of rhyming words and sing nursery rhymes aloud. They confidently talk to the childminder and call her by name. Children develop their literacy skills, for example, they say repeated phrases in stories being read by the childminder.
