This provision is good
Staff provide a welcoming environment. They regularly observe children and plan a wide range of experiences and activities across all areas of learning. Children treat each other with respect. For example, older children learn to manage their own small disputes and show genuine kindness to their younger peers. Children engage in a range of experiences to gain an understanding of diversity and the wider world beyond their immediate environment. For example, they enjoy quiet time together discussing photographs of their families and friends. The manager and staff monitor children's development closely. Staff make timely interventions to help support children who are at risk of falling behind their peers. Children make good progress and learn skills ready for school. Children settle in quickly and build good relationships with their key person. Staff are kind and supportive and tailor starter sessions to meet children's individual needs.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
Staff do not consistently share information on children's learning with all parents to establish a more consistent approach and help children make even better progress. The manager does not fully consider how to build on staff's knowledge, teaching and practice to help enhance outcomes for children to the highest level.

What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

Inspection activities
The inspector took into account the views of parents spoken to on the day. The inspector observed the quality of teaching and the impact on children's learning. The inspector conducted a joint observation with the nursery manager. The inspector held discussions with the manager, children and staff at appropriate times during the inspection. The inspector looked at various documents, including policies and procedures, risk assessments, staff training records, records for children and evidence of the suitability of staff.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The manager and staff understand how to make referrals of child protection and safeguarding concerns. They closely supervise children and keep them safe. The manager monitors staff practice and, overall, helps them to identify their strengths and areas for improvement. She works well with other settings that children attend. For example, she holds discussions with childminders to help ensure consistency in the care and learning for each child. The manager regularly evaluates the provision and takes action to address any identified improvements. For example, the recent development of the book area has had a positive impact on children's early reading skills.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
Staff encourage children to make independent choices and decisions about their play. For example, children choose to play in the mud kitchen and pretend to cook pies for their friends and staff. Staff support children's creativity well. For example, they teach children new skills and children successfully cut out shapes to create imaginative designs. Staff extend children's mathematical learning in different ways. They encourage them to name shapes. Staff support children to develop their language and communication skills well. For example, staff listen to children and support them to pronounce new words.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Staff foster children's emotional well-being and children show confidence in their own abilities. For example, they excitedly describe their paintings and are proud of their achievements. Staff encourage children to independently manage their personal needs and teach children an understanding of how to keep safe and healthy. For example, they provide children with healthy snacks and talk to them about why they need to wash their hands. Children investigate the outdoor environment with genuine enthusiasm. For example, they carefully move logs to hunt for bugs and are thrilled to find a family of beetles. Staff encourage children to care for living things. They are very gentle and handle the insects with care. Staff give children an abundance of praise to help develop their self- esteem.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children are busy and active learners. All children, including those who speak English as an additional language and those with special educational needs and/or disabilities, make good progress from their starting points. Children develop their curiosity and mathematical skills. For example, they look closely through magnifying glasses and investigate pattern, shape and number within the environment. Children show high levels of concentration and are keen to try things out for themselves. For example, they practise new skills and learn how to use resources, such as hoops, in different ways.
