This provision is good
The childminder evaluates her practice. She has a strong commitment to continuing her professional development. She accesses a wide range of training opportunities to improve her skills and knowledge. The setting is very well organised to promote children's independent learning. They can access a wide range of equipment that supports their imaginary play. Children enjoy many activities where they have the opportunity to explore their community and learn more about people and the world around them. Assessments of children's learning are shared with parents. The childminder explains to them how learning is supported and helps them to continue children's learning at home. The childminder helps children to understand about similarity and difference. She encourages them to think about how they might look similar to their family members, and how they look different from each other.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not yet have highly effective partnerships with other providers to support the continuous flow of information between all settings that children attend. Occasionally, the childminder does not fully support children to use a wide enough range of words to describe their experiences.

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching during activities indoors and outdoors, and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector completed a joint evaluation of an activity with the childminder. The inspector held a number of discussions with the childminder. She looked at relevant documentation and evidence of the suitability of persons living in the household. The inspector spoke with children during the inspection. The inspector took account of the views of parents through written feedback provided.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder keeps up to date and has a good understanding of local child protection issues. She helps children to keep themselves safe and understands the procedures to follow if she has concerns about a child. The childminder links with other childminders to share good practice. She conducts independent research, which helps her to provide children with an interesting and stimulating curriculum. The childminder monitors children's progress and understands that they develop at different rates. The childminder seeks the views of parents and children when reviewing her practice. Parents are very happy with the care the childminder provides. They say that she is warm and caring with a great sense of fun.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder has a good understanding of the different ways that children learn. She ensures planned activities meet the needs of children of different ages. A wide range of resources that reflect children's interests supports their independent exploration. The childminder encourages them to persevere with tasks and is on hand to offer support where needed. Children explore simple technology during role play, such as using dials and knobs on the play kitchen. Communication, overall, is promoted well. The childminder involves children in discussions about their friends and family. Children enjoy reading and sharing books. The childminder encourages them to use the pictures to tell the story and to talk about the characters. Mathematics and literacy are promoted very well throughout children's play. They count and begin to group objects. They begin to recognise familiar letters.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder helps children settle. They quickly form strong attachments and start to build friendships. Children enjoy learning about the world around them. They explore habitats during pond-dipping activities and work together to build dens from natural materials. Children develop good social skills. They learn to use good manners. They begin to manage their own behaviour, supported by the childminder's 'firm but fair' approach. The childminder encourages children to try new activities and experiences. She helps them to develop their independence in personal care routines. They enjoy nutritious home- cooked meals and are encouraged to make healthy choices.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children are meeting their expected targets and make good progress from their starting points. Any gaps in their learning are addressed quickly. Children have high levels of self- esteem and confidence, which helps them to become keen and successful learners. They are developing a good range of skills in preparation for their future learning in school.
