Effectiveness of the leadership and management is outstanding

The childminder is very experienced. She has an excellent overview of the curriculum and provides children with a stimulating environment where they eagerly engage in a broad range of activities. The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder continuously updates her knowledge and understanding to ensure that children are kept safe at all times. The childminder recognises the importance of developing her teaching skills through further professional development in order to maintain the excellent outcomes in place for children. Any gaps in their learning are expertly noted and quickly closed. This conscientious approach has enabled the childminder to achieve the highest possible standards in care and education for children. Written comments from parents state that they are delighted with the high quality of care and the exceptional progress that their children are making.

p.3

Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is outstanding

The childminder interacts very effectively with children to support their speaking and language skills. She engages children in conversations, extends their vocabulary and helps them to recall previous experiences. For example, children talk to visitors about a recent visit to a farm park where they fed a lamb from a bottle. The childminder very skilfully adapts activities to suit all ages of children. Older children fill containers with rice, observing the different capacities and identifying whether they are two or three dimensional shapes. Younger children happily play alongside and gain some sensory experiences, for example, as they feel the rice running through their fingers. The childminder has extremely high expectations for each child and encourages them to persevere at tasks. Consequently, children rapidly develop and are willing and eager to have a go at new experiences.

p.3

Personal development, behaviour and welfare are outstanding

The childminder's obvious enjoyment in her role helps children to feel extremely secure and happy. She has a natural rapport with children, instantly knowing when they are hungry or tired. Children of all ages are very skilfully supported to develop independence skills. The childminder encourages children to help her with tasks. While she prepares their snack they put the plates and cups on the table, deciding for themselves who will sit where. Children enjoy a very wide variety of foods which contributes towards their understanding of developing a healthy lifestyle. The childminder places an exceptionally high value on helping children learn how to keep themselves safe. Children talk about the dangers of not listening to the childminder when they go for walks.

p.3

Outcomes for children are outstanding

Children of all age groups are making rapid progress. They are highly enthusiastic, motivated and self-assured learners. Children are exceptionally well prepared for the next stage in their learning and their eventual move on to school.
