This provision is good
The childminder makes regular observations and precise assessments of children. She uses these effectively to plan towards their next steps in learning and help to close any gaps in their development. Children learn to become independent from a young age. For example, all children enter her home and take off their own shoes and hang up their own coats before settling in to play. The childminder interacts with the children at every opportunity. She consistently introduces new words to help to extend their vocabulary. For example, young children learn words such as 'watering can' during their play. Children learn to follow strong hygiene practices. For example, they wash their hands from a young age after playing in the garden and before and after eating meals. The childminder reviews her provision effectively to help her improve her practice. She identifies strengths and weaknesses and continues to improve outcomes for children.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not make full use of everyday play to extend children's learning following their own interests. The childminder offers few activities for children to learn about people and other communities to compare similarities and differences.

What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

Inspection activities
The inspector toured the premises during the inspection. The inspector talked to the children and the childminder at convenient times during the inspection. The inspector observed children's play and evaluated an activity with the childminder. The inspector sought the views from parents through written feedback. The inspector looked at a range of relevant documentation relating to safeguarding, policies and procedures, and learning and development documents.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has secure knowledge of the procedures to follow if she has concerns about the welfare of any of the children in her care. She regularly updates her safeguarding knowledge and is up to date with current legislation. Since the last inspection, the childminder has evaluated her own practice effectively and made improvements. For example, her resources are readily available to all children and they make choices in their play. The childminder invites the views and suggestions of all children and includes these into her future plans. For example, she takes them on regular outings of their choice. Parents speak highly about the care and education the childminder provides.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder has high expectations of what each child can do and provides them, overall, with plenty of challenges. For example, she makes use of everyday play to encourage young children to begin to count and learn new mathematical vocabulary, such as 'more'. She provides challenging resources for young children, such as scales, to help them to begin to use measures and weight in their play. Children's emotional and physical needs are met very well throughout the day. Children enjoy regular opportunities to promote their physical development. For example, they play on large equipment in the childminder's garden and go on trips to local parks.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children settle in well in the childminder's home and show strong levels of confidence. The childminder encourages parents to share plenty of information about children's needs and routines when they first start. She provides the children with healthy snacks, such as fruit, and offers them regular drinks. The childminder encourages parents to provide healthy lunches for the children. The childminder helps children to learn what behaviours are expected from them and they learn to behave well. Children have good opportunities to interact with others and develop their social skills. For example, they meet with other childminders and their children regularly.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
All children are making typical progress for their age and stages. They are learning new skills which help towards their next stages in learning and moving on to school. For example, children show an interest in letters and copy the childminder as she sounds them out. Children are strong communicators and, generally, they make choices in their play. For example, children select a song bag and choose which songs they would like to sing with the childminder. They are learning self-help skills, such as dressing and undressing, and learn to feed themselves.
