This provision is good
The childminder observes and monitors children's progress carefully to help her plan the next steps in their learning. She has a secure knowledge of how children of all ages learn through play. She uses her knowledge and skills to plan interesting activities that engage children and reflect their current interests. Children settle well and feel secure in the experienced childminder's care. She works closely with parents to discuss children's needs and to help provide consistency in young children's routines. The childminder is very attentive to children's needs and she gives their well-being high priority. The well-qualified childminder keeps up with her professional development and that helps her to provide good quality teaching and learning for children. The childminder evaluates her teaching and planning, and thinks of ways to improve her provision. This has a positive impact on children's learning experiences. Children

p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder has not fully established links with staff at the other settings children attend, to help promote consistency when supporting children's learning. Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching during activities indoors, and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector completed an evaluation of an activity with the childminder. The inspector held a number of discussions with the childminder. She looked at relevant documentation and evidence of the suitability of persons living in the household. The inspector spoke to children during the inspection. The inspector took account of the views of parents through written feedback provided.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder ensures her home is safe for children to use. She carries out daily checks of her home and places she visits with the children. The childminder has a thorough understanding of how to protect children and what to do if she has a concern about a child. She has updated her knowledge and awareness of how to keep children safe. The childminder recognises the need to inform Ofsted of any changes relevant to her provision. She reflects on her practice well to continually identify aspects that she can develop. For example, since the last inspection, the childminder has planned a wider range of activities to enable children to explore the natural world.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder finds out what children already know and can do when they start. She makes careful observations of their achievements and measures their progress effectively from their starting points. She builds on their learning and development through well- planned activities. The childminder takes note of children's interests and obtains information about these from parents. She shares detailed information with parents about their children's progress and they work well together to support children's learning. Children are well prepared for the next stages in their learning. The childminder interacts well with babies and encourages them to reach for toys. She supports them well to help them to gain confidence to stand and try to take a few steps. Babies hold on to low furniture to support themselves and are eager to try this on their own, with the childminder's encouragement.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Babies settle to sleep easily on the childminder's lap, or on the settee. She rocks them gently and they show they feel secure. The childminder encourages babies to hold their bottles and spoons so they gain independence in feeding themselves. The childminder prepares children well for the move to new settings. She helps them to play with other children at the play centres they attend together to increase their social skills. The childminder praises children when they try to feed themselves or say new words. Children gain confidence and good self-esteem.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Babies are curious and alert to their surroundings. They explore an exciting range of colourful toys with enthusiasm and make independent choices in their play. Children press buttons and turn knobs on the toys to produce sounds and music. They laugh and repeat the process, which shows they understand that their actions create the effects they want. Young children develop their language and communication skills well. They enjoy making sounds and trying to form words.
