This provision is good
The childminder works effectively in partnership with parents and other professionals who are involved in the children's care. She uses information shared about each child to provide many opportunities for children to develop the skills they gain in other settings. The childminder provides a very safe and secure environment for the children attending. She closely supervises children and escorts them safely to and from the local school. Children are happy and settled in the childminder's care. They childminder helps children celebrate their achievements in many ways. For example, children proudly add stars to their wall chart to celebrate being kind. The childminder reflects on the effectiveness of her provision and identifies improvements to make that support positive experiences for children. For example, she has improved opportunities for children to be imaginative.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
Occasionally, the childminder does not fully encourage children to follow their own ideas and choices. Sometimes, the childminder misses opportunities to help children persevere with tricky tasks, to extend their confidence in trying new things and solving problems.

Inspection activities
The inspector observed activities and spoke to the childminder and children at appropriate times. The inspector looked at a range of documentation, including risk assessments and some policies. The inspector spoke to the childminder about how she evaluates the effectiveness of her provision. The inspector observed the quality of interactions, and she and the childminder jointly evaluated the effectiveness of these for the children. The inspector checked the childminder's qualifications and training, along with evidence of her suitability.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has a good knowledge of the procedures to follow should she have any child protection concerns. The childminder uses self-evaluation to look at the strengths and areas for development within her setting. She checks that her activities effectively match children's interests and stages of development. The childminder seeks the views of parents and children, and makes improvements based on their feedback. For example, she has recently introduced more cooking activities for children to enjoy. The childminder uses many professional development opportunities to improve her knowledge and skills. For example, she uses her knowledge well to help children further enjoy their early reading and writing activities. She works well with parents to address any areas where children require particular support, to help children experience good continuity and to meet their needs.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
Children have fun and enjoy their time at the childminder's home. They benefit from the childminder's involvement in their play. For example, the childminder helped extend children's awareness of numbers and simple calculation as they chatted and played a board game. The childminder provides good support for children's communication skills in many ways. For example, the children described their drawings in response to her questions and she encouraged children to listen well to each other. The childminder provides many opportunities for children to be imaginative and learn about the world around them. For example, children excitedly showed the inspector the beans they had planted and explained how they needed water and sunlight to grow. The childminder helped them write simple words as they recorded their ideas about how plants grow.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder provides a safe and homely environment which children explore confidently. Good settling-in arrangements help children adapt to their new surroundings with ease and build secure attachments. The childminder helps children consider each other's views. Children demonstrate pride in their achievements. For example, children encouraged the childminder to take photos of their drawings to show parents later in the day. Children behave well. They are kind and considerate to each other. The childminder helps children follow healthy lifestyles. For example, children know that if they feel tired, they can snuggle up on the settee to rest. Children learn about making healthy food choices, and they receive drinks and snacks that are nutritionally balanced.
