The inspector observed the quality of teaching during activities and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector held discussions with the childminder and children during the inspection. The inspector completed a joint observation with the childminder. The inspector looked at relevant documentation, such as the qualifications held by the childminder. She checked evidence of the suitability of all those living and working on the premises. The inspectors spoke to a small number of parents during the inspection and took account of their views.

She has a secure understanding of what procedures to follow should she have a concern about a child in her care. The childminder has completed relevant mandatory training, such as paediatric first aid. She completes appropriate risk assessments in order to ensure children play in a safe environment. The childminder takes into consideration the views of parents, children and the local authority support worker to help her improve her practice.
p.3

The childminder is well qualified and has a secure understanding of how children learn through play. She seeks information from parents when their children first start with her. She uses this information, alongside her own observations of children, to plan activities to help children settle and then progress in their development. The childminder uses resources well to challenge children in their learning. For example, children select books to share with her. She asks questions to entice children to share what they know about the pictures in the book. She challenges older children in their mathematical skills as they begin to understand the sequential order or numbers. The childminder encourages children to describe what they are feeling when touching textures books. This enhances their language development and sensory skills.
p.3

For example, she provides books and small-world characters reflecting people's similarities and differences. They also spend time learning about various festivals. The childminder helps children learn to take turns and share toys and play equipment. This helps children learn to play cooperatively in readiness for school. The childminder helps children develop their health and well-being. Children have plenty of time outside in the fresh air. They also are offered a range of healthy snack and meals which meets their individual dietary requirements.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children are well prepared for their next stage in learning and for school. They make good progress given their starting points. They are well motivate in their play and eager to learn. Children learn to be independent and manage tasks for themselves, such as self- care routines and toileting. Children enjoy singing in group. This develops their confidence and enhances their language skills.
