p.1

The provision does not meet requirements

 The childminder has not taken all necessary measures to minimise potential risks to the children in her care. The garden gates have open features allowing access to the slide bolt from the outside. Although the childminder plans to be within hearing distance of the children, she has not considered the possibility of unauthorised persons entering the premises or made arrangements to prevent this.  The childminder has a secure knowledge of child protection procedures and the action to take if she has any concerns for a child's welfare. She has completed a range of safeguarding courses to help update her knowledge, including most recent legislation.  The childminder has a good knowledge and understanding of the learning and development requirements of the early years foundation stage. She explains how she intends to provide good learning opportunities, indoors and outdoors, to meet children's individual needs.

p.1

The provision does not meet requirements

 The childminder understands how to manage children's behaviour in a positive way and teach them to respect each other. She describes a range of techniques she intends to adopt to help all children recognise how their actions have an impact upon others.  The childminder understands how to support children's healthy lifestyles, such as through providing nutritious food and planning daily opportunities for physical exercise.  The childminder recognises the importance of working in partnership with parents and other early years providers to support continuity in children's individual care and help prepare them for future learning.  Parents of older children are very complimentary about the childminder's care. They make particular reference to the wide range of activities children take part in, such as arts and crafts, cooking and visits to museums and to see the childminder's horses.  The childminder uses self-evaluation to reflect on some aspects of her practice. She

regularly helps out at the local school, meets with other childminders and plans to complete further courses with the aim of developing her teaching skills.

p.1

The provision does not meet requirements

There were no children present when this inspection took place. The findings in this report are based on evidence gathered from discussions with those who care for the children and an inspection of the premises, equipment and relevant documentation. Where there are no children present, no judgement is made on the quality of the early years provision as there is no reliable evidence on which to assess its impact on children. The report states whether the provider continues to meet the requirements of registration.
