This provision is good
All children feel at home with the childminder. They enjoy warm and caring relationships with her. This helps to promote their emotional well-being. The childminder regularly shares detailed assessment information with parents and other settings that children attend. This provides consistency in children's learning and supports them to make good progress. Overall, the childminder ensures that all children are challenged in their activities. They are well prepared for the next stage in their learning and eventually their move on to school. The indoor learning environment is very well developed. A wide range of interesting and stimulating resources is available for children to access independently. Children decide what they want to play with and find what they need without help. The childminder has developed positive relationships with parents to promote children's learning and care. She uses a range of effective teaching methods to help support

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching during activities indoors and outdoors and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector completed a joint evaluation of an activity with the childminder. The inspector held a number of discussions with the childminder. She looked at relevant documentation and evidence of the suitability of persons living in the household. The inspector spoke to children during the inspection. The inspector took account of the views of parents through written feedback provided.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder has a very good understanding of local procedures to follow when reporting concerns about children's safety and welfare. She has developed robust procedures for risk assessments. She identifies potential hazards to help minimise the possibility of accidents. Parents are overwhelmingly positive about the service provided by the childminder. They make comments, such as, 'It is reassuring that our children are within a safe, secure and fun environment'. The childminder is qualified and regularly updates her skills and knowledge to help make improvements to the provision. She understands her responsibility to ensure that her assistant has appropriate skills and knowledge to fulfil his role.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder uses her clear and evaluative observations of children to make regular, precise assessments and to plan for future learning. She supports children's language and communication development well. For example, she reads them stories and talks with them during their activities, introducing new words to help extend their vocabulary. Children are delighted to take part in themed activities around their favourite books. They are highly motivated to make gingerbread biscuits and engage in collage activities for long periods of time. Children make suggestions about the activities they would like to take part in and the childminder incorporates them into her planning. Children feel their ideas are valued by the childminder.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children's behaviour is good. They respond positively when the childminder gives them gentle reminders about rules and routines. Children are confident and enjoy celebrating their achievements with the childminder. For example, babies clap their hands and smile when she praises their attempts to stand up independently. This helps to support their physical development and boost their self-esteem. The childminder provides children with a range of snacks to promote healthy eating. She talks to children about what they like to eat and incorporates this into snacks. Children are encouraged to take increasing responsibility for their own self-care. For example, the childminder explains the importance of washing their hands before eating lunch. Regular trips to the local park and beach help support children to learn about their wider community.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
All children make good progress from their starting points. Children are keen to explore the childminder's home. They have positive relationships with the childminder and babies cuddle her when they are tired. Older children regularly take part in more focused play activities, such as playing games using dice, to help develop their number skills.
