Staff understand what to do if they have concern for a child's welfare or how to respond to any allegations made against staff. Clear records are maintained to help demonstrate staff suitability. The pre-school's polices are clear and are effectively shared with parents. Partnerships with schools are effective.

Children join in physical activities well. Staff explain the need for safety, encouraging children to share responsibility. Children benefit from regular planned football and drama sessions. These effectively help encourage children to play actively, develop coordination and creativity. Staff support children to develop good self-care skills. They give time for children to practise putting on and taking off coats and shoes, helping as required to promote their independence. Staff are playful and caring. They are good role models for children. They get to know children and their families well.
