This provision is good
The childminder provides a homely, welcoming environment where children have access to a good range of resources and activities. They make independent choices as they play. Children's emotional well-being and their welfare are supported carefully and sensitively by the childminder. Children demonstrate they feel secure, happy and settled. The childminder builds on children's learning enthusiastically and interacts well with them. She closely observes children and listens and responds to their questions to build on their learning effectively. Children behave well. The childminder acts as a good role model and reinforces important social skills and boundaries to children. She consistently and clearly explains what she expects from them. information with them on their children's learning and development.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
Children are not consistently able to fully explore and build on their interests, imagination and reflect their real-life experiences. The childminder does not consistently monitor children's development as precisely as possible to enable her to plan more accurately for their next steps in their learning.

What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

Inspection activities
The inspector observed activities in the main playroom and looked at other areas used for childminding. The inspector conducted a joint observation with the childminder and held discussions with her about children's learning. The inspector sampled the childminder's documents, including children's records, and policies and procedures. The inspector discussed how the childminder reflects on her practice to make improvements. The inspector took account of parents' written views on the quality of the provision.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has a secure knowledge and understanding of what procedure to follow should she ever have any child protection concerns about a child in her care. The childminder is also aware of how to identify any risk from extreme views and behaviour. She assesses the areas for potential hazards regularly and ensures the environments children use are safe for them. The childminder completes training and liaises with other providers, and shares good practices with them. For example, she has improved the activities she provides to help children learn about diversity. The childminder communicates with other professionals who also support the children for whom she cares. This helps her to provide children with consistency in their learning and development. The childminder reflects on her practice and what she provides, and makes changes where necessary to improve these further.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder provides activities that meet children's interests, learning needs and help sustain their good progress. For example, children enjoy looking at books and extend this by searching for resources that match the story and pictures. Children enjoy looking at textured books. The childminder uses known and new words to help improve children's vocabulary. For example, they especially enjoy talking about the places they have been to or know on a world map. Older children show pride when they find the airport where they boarded a plane to go on holiday. Children enjoy creating collages with coloured paper shapes, where some are gummed to enable younger children to easily participate, and a range of craft resources are always available to them. Children's mathematical skills are developing well and their early number skills are consistently promoted in all activities. For example, they love trying to tell the time as they look at the clock.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children form strong bonds with the childminder. They enjoy her attention as they all play together. Regular trips out, for example to toddler groups, help children learn how to socialise, share, take turns and respect others' needs. Children learn about their feelings and how facial expressions can show these. The childminder actively encourages healthy eating, good personal hygiene routines and physical play.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children are well prepared for nursery or school. They make good progress in their development from their starting points. Children practise their early writing skills and are learning the shape of the letters, such as those in their name. Their communication and literacy skills are supported well and they are keen to turn the page to find out what happens next when stories are read to them.
