This provision is good
The childminder makes good use of her accurate observations and assessments of children's progress and learning needs to plan a wide range of challenging and exciting activities and experiences. Children make consistently good progress in all areas of learning. Children develop very close relationships with the childminder. She is sensitive, caring and provides a nurturing and homely environment. Children develop high levels of confidence and strong emotional security in readiness for school. The childminder works well with parents and other settings. She provides them with regular and detailed information about children's development, which helps them to support children's learning. The childminder attends regular training to successfully raise the quality of teaching and support children's good progress. For example, training on non-verbal communication has supported her to provide picture cards and timelines that help

children to communicate their needs and become familiar with regular routines.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
At times, the childminder does not encourage children to think critically, as she is too quick to offer solutions to problems as they play. The childminder misses opportunities during children's play to help them learn about their body.
p.1
What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the childminder and children inside and outside. The inspector spoke with the childminder at appropriate times during the inspection. The inspector sampled documentation, including children's records, policies, the childminder's self-evaluation and her qualification certificate. The inspector took account of the views of parents through their written feedback left for the inspection.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has a secure knowledge of how to report any concerns she may have about children's welfare. She has policies and procedures and updates her training regularly to support her practices well. The childminder carries out rigorous risk assessments to help her keep children safe. She evaluates her practice well and seeks parents' views to help her reflect on her practices and bring about continuous improvements. This has helped her to focus changes on meeting the children's needs and attend training that helps to improve her teaching and children's experiences. The childminder has addressed the recommendations from her last inspection well to work more closely with parents and support children's literacy skills.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder has a very good knowledge of the children's individual learning needs. She makes good use of opportunities to extend children's communication and language. The childminder shows children how to use a computerised tablet to extend their knowledge. For example, she looks up the different toy characters the children play with. She engages children in detailed discussions, encouraging the children well to listen and share what they know. The childminder plans well to engage children in their learning. For example, following a familiar story, she helps children to plant seeds. She uses a book to explain and show children what they need to do and why. She talks them through the process, referring to the book frequently, which encourages children to recall what they have learnt and ask questions. Children confidently share and explain that, 'plants need water and sun to live, so you cannot keep them in the dark.'
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children have secure emotional attachments with the childminder. They are happy and keen to play and learn. The childminder provides frequent opportunities for children to play confidently in larger groups, supporting their social skills well. The childminder praises children's achievements and teaches them to take turns and share toys. Children develop respect for others and good self-esteem. Children gain good independence and are keen to do things for themselves. Children are physically active and develop good strength and coordination.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children gain good skills that prepare them well for the next stages in their learning and readiness for school. They are curious learners and like to explore their own ideas imaginatively. For instance, children use string and coloured wooden shapes to make a 'rescue line' to rescue their toys from under the sofa. They use their language well to confidently provide a commentary to the childminder about what they are doing and why.
