p.2
children and young people since the most recent full inspection
Young people are continuing to thrive and make progress in all areas of their development. They remain healthy and continue to enjoy a wide range of activities in the community. These activities include attending dance classes, drama and rugby. Consequently, young people’s self-confidence and self-esteem increase, which enables them to form friendships with other young people in the local area. Young people continue to do well in school and have excellent attendance; even those young people who previously refused to attend school now attend. One young person’s school attendance has risen from 4% to 100% since he has been living in the home.
p.2
children and young people since the most recent full inspection
The manager and staff work in partnership with other professionals, such as social workers, teachers and health professionals. For example, the manager attends specialist health appointments with young people. She has also asked a clinical psychologist to provide training for staff to support them in caring for young people with complex behaviour.
p.2
children and young people since the most recent full inspection
Staff work closely with young people’s families to support young people to remain in contact with their families. As a result, young people are having positive contact with their families. Staff also support young people when they leave the home to move into alternative placements. Staff work in close partnership with social workers and families to support young people to make a smooth transition to their new homes. For example, staff have worked closely with foster carers over a six- week planned transition period to support one young person to move into foster care.
p.2
children and young people since the most recent full inspection
Young people are safe. Staff swiftly follow up and report any concerns or allegations raised by young people. The manager and staff work well with young people to rebuild relationships following any allegation. Young people do not go missing. This is an excellent achievement, especially considering that young people arrive with a significant history of running away. Instances of physical intervention and negative consequences remain low. This is because staff promote positive behaviour. The staff have a good understanding of the young people they care for and are skilled in de-escalating behaviour.
p.2
children and young people since the most recent full inspection
The home continues to be well led by an inspirational and experienced registered manager. The home is well resourced and managed in line with the home’s statement of purpose. Staff at the home remain consistent in their practice. This means that young people receive continuity of care and are able to build and maintain strong relationships with staff. The manager continues to have an excellent understanding of the strengths and weaknesses of the home. She consistently monitors staff practice and young people’s progress. This gives her a good understanding of the outcomes being achieved by young people. However, the report produced from this monitoring has not been sent into Ofsted as required in legislation. This does not have any effect on the well-being of young people, although it does mean that the regulator is not able to see the home’s achievements.
p.3
children and young people since the most recent full inspection
The home environment continues to be child-centred, warm and comfortable. The staff continue to ensure that décor and furnishings are maintained to a very high standard.

Information about this inspection
Inspectors have looked closely at the experiences and progress of children and young people living in the children's home. Inspectors considered the quality of work and the difference that adults make to the lives of children and young people. They read case files, watched how professional staff work with children, young people and each other and discussed the effectiveness of help and care given to children and young people. Wherever possible, they talked to children, young people and their families. In addition the inspectors have tried to understand what the children's home knows about how well it is performing, how well it is doing and what difference it is making for the children and young people who it is trying to help, protect and look after. This inspection focused on the effectiveness of the home and the progress and experiences of children and young people since the most recent full inspection.
