The childminder plans interesting activities that challenge children well and motivate them to learn. Children make good progress from their starting points. The childminder gives lots of praise and encouragement. Children have positive self- esteem. Partnerships with parents are good. The regular sharing of information provides consistency in children's learning and keeps parents up to date with children's progress. The childminder supports children's physical well-being effectively. For example, she plans daily opportunities for children to have fresh air and exercise. for further improvement, to benefit the children.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
At times, the childminder misses opportunities to encourage children to develop and share their thoughts and ideas and to think for themselves. The childminder does not provide a broad range of opportunities to help children gain a greater awareness of the similarities and differences between themselves and others.

Inspection activities
The inspector had a tour of the areas used for childminding. The inspector observed the childminder and children during play and evaluated an activity with the the childminder. The inspector examined a sample of policies, documents and children's records. The inspector read feedback from parents to gain their views. The inspector discussed the childminder's self-evaluation process.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder knows the procedures to follow if she has concerns about a child's welfare. She has a good understanding of how to protect children at risk of harm from extreme views. The childminder is aware of the need to keep Ofsted up to date with any changes. She has made improvements since her last inspection. For example, she now shares regular information with parents to involve them in their children's learning and monitors children's progress effectively. The childminder places a strong focus on her professional development. For example, she has completed a relevant qualification since her last inspection to help raise standards. She completes her own research to improve outcomes for children.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder uses her good knowledge of how children learn to enable her to plan challenging activities for them. She completes accurate assessments and identifies what they need to learn next to help support children's progress. For example, she identified how children needed more support with counting and numbers and planned a range of enjoyable mathematical activities to help them learn. The childminder encourages children to use their imaginative skills well. For example, she provides resources that encourage children to play 'schools' and they invite her into their play. The childminder encourages children to explore a range of technology, such as toy phones and musical toys. Children push buttons and learn how to use them together.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder is kind and caring. Children form positive relationships with her. She works well with parents to find out as much as possible about children's care and development needs when they first start. This helps the childminder to plan effectively for children from the outset. The childminder helps children to develop a good understanding of keeping themselves safe through a variety of activities, such as discussions about road safety. Children behave well and know what the childminder expects of them. The childminder ensures that children eat healthily and develop good personal hygiene routines.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children make good progress in their learning. They gain confidence in their abilities and good independence skills. For example, children make independent choices in their play and learn how to manage their personal care, such as wiping their noses. Children develop a good awareness of early literacy. For instance, they enjoy looking at books and explore a range of early writing resources. Children enjoy music and songs. They gain the skills they need for the next stage in their learning and their eventual move on to school.
