The inspector asked the childminder questions relating to children's development and welfare at appropriate times during inspection. The inspector viewed a sample of documents, including the childminder's policies, procedures and risk assessments. The inspector and the childminder evaluated the effectiveness of an activity together.

Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has a secure knowledge of the child protection procedures, which helps her to safeguard children. Partnerships with parents are good. The childminder keeps them fully informed and involved in their children's development. These positive partnerships support children's continuity of care and learning well. The childminder assesses children's development effectively. She uses what she knows to identify any gaps in children's learning quickly and offers additional support to help them catch up.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good

For example, when the childminder read stories, the children enjoyed using a variety of words to describe the different textures in the books. The childminder helps parents to further support children's learning at home. For example, she encourages parents to read with children and provides books for children to share at home with their parents. Children enjoy talking about aspects of their familiar world. For instance, the childminder uses posters of children's families to talk to them about significant people in their lives.

The childminder seeks the views of others to help evaluate the provision and attended training to help her meet the needs of children with specific allergies. For example, she has developed her practice to include a list of allergens in the children's daily diaries to help contribute to their good health. The childminder is conscientious about safety. She completes daily risk assessments, identifies possible risks to children and explains to them how to keep safe. For example, she teaches them that they must not climb on furniture as they may fall and harm themselves.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children make good progress in preparation for their future learning, including school. They are inquisitive and keen to learn. Children gain a love of books and share pleasure when they read books with the childminder. Children join in with activities, play happily together and learn to share and take turns. They learn about healthy lifestyles, such as following good hygiene practices and eating healthy meals and snacks. Children develop good early mathematical skills.
