This provision is good
Children move around the childminder's home with ease, showing that they are happy and secure in her care. Children benefit from freshly prepared meals and the childminder takes their individual dietary needs into account. The childminder effectively promotes children's well-being. Her flexible settling-in procedures are shared with parents, helping to support the children to form close bonds with her. All required paperwork is completed, enabling the childminder to understand and provide appropriate care to meet each child's personal needs. The childminder develops extremely good working relationships with a child's key person or classroom teacher, where they attend other settings. This helps her to remain focused on all that the children are learning, enabling her to plan around their developing interests and current knowledge. Children's behaviour is very good. Their manners are perfect and embedded because

they practise these in the childminder's care. Children learn to respect each other and visitors, following the example set by the childminder. Children acquire the skills they need to support continued learning as they prepare to move on to school.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder is not specifically focused on continuing to develop her good teaching skills to enhance children's learning experiences to the highest level.

focus continued professional development more precisely to raise the quality of teaching to an even higher level.

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching during activities and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector completed a joint evaluation of an activity with the childminder. The inspector held a number of discussions with the childminder. She looked at relevant documentation and evidence of the suitability of persons living in the household. The inspector spoke with children during the inspection. The inspector took account of the views of parents through verbal feedback and records they have shared with the childminder. The inspector discussed with the childminder how she reflects on and continues to develop her practice.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder's professional development ensures that legislative training is undertaken. She is proactive in seeking information from her local authority relating to the latest procedures for reporting child protection concerns. She regularly updates her knowledge about safeguarding children from harm, paediatric first aid and food hygiene. These skills enable the childminder to provide good care. The childminder listens to parents and children whenever she is reflecting on her practice, in order to include pertinent ideas and promote continuous improvement. She has taught herself Polish, helping her to work even more closely with families. This includes translating documentation and assisting them to learn about and share in the educational opportunities she provides for their children.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder observes, assesses and monitors each child's ongoing learning and development. This helps her to identify what progress is being made in relation to their starting points and abilities. Parents are encouraged to share learning that happens at home, and as they do, the childminder can continue to plan and build on all that each child understands and can do. The childminder's attention to tracking each child's progress means that she can identify and address any gaps in their learning early. Where further professional support is required for children, the childminder is ready to provide evidence and practical support for parents. This includes attending appointments and providing her observations. This attention helps to make sure that each child has the correct support in place as they continue to grow and make progress.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children are encouraged by the childminder to learn about the wider world around them. Regular trips to local historic sites, parks and groups provide opportunities for children to interact socially with other adults and children. This helps them to increase their confidence in communication and learn about everyday protocols, such as being polite and showing kindness to others. Children's physical skills are very good. They develop hand- to-eye coordination through various activities, inside and outside. These include baking and using single-handed tools, or coordinating movement as they stretch large muscles using climbing frames, swings and slides at the park.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Every child becomes confident in dealing with their personal needs, such as washing their hands or helping themselves to a drink. They are confident to share ideas about their developing interests and talk with the childminder and other adults about how best to tackle different tasks. For example, children talk about how to hold a controller so that they can efficiently operate the icon on a computer screen. This enables them to record and understand the progress they make during physically interactive running and jumping on the spot games.
