children and young people since the most recent full inspection

This home was judged good at the last full inspection. At this interim inspection the home was 'not judged' .

p.2

children and young people since the most recent full inspection

This home has been closed since 23 August 2016 when the last young person left. This period of closure has enabled the registered manager, who has been in post since April 2016, to focus on the development of the other home which she manages. During this period she has demonstrated a professional competency that prioritises the needs of young people. She understands the importance of ensuring that the right young person is matched to this home if she is to mirror the success of her other home.

p.2

children and young people since the most recent full inspection

The manager confirms that the home will reopen imminently. This is subject to the successful recruitment of a competent and experienced staff team and the completion of renovation and refurbishment work that is ongoing currently. Development plans outline how the home’s overall aims and objectives are to be achieved once the home opens. These plans also include details of how the outstanding requirements and recommendations from the previous inspection will be addressed in preparation for opening, and when the home is fully operational. The effectiveness of these plans will be measured at the next inspection.

p.6

Information about this inspection

Inspectors have looked closely at the experiences and progress of children and young people living in the children's home. Inspectors considered the quality of work and the difference that adults make to the lives of children and young people. They read case files, watched how professional staff work with children, young people and each other and discussed the effectiveness of help and care given to children and young people. Wherever possible, they talked to children, young people and their families. In addition the inspectors have tried to understand what the children's home knows about how well it is performing, how well it is doing and what difference it is making for the children and young people who it is trying to help, protect and look after. This inspection focused on the effectiveness of the home and the progress and experiences of children and young people since the most recent full inspection.
