The childminder uses high-quality interactions to underpin children's learning successfully and to support strong communication and language skills. The childminder knows children well and uses her assessment procedures effectively to match activities and experiences to their capabilities to move them forward in their learning. identify and address areas for further development. She has met the recommendation set at the last inspection, to maintain good-quality provision.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
At times, the childminder does not make the best use of outdoor learning opportunities to fully benefit children who enjoy being outside. Sometimes, the childminder does not focus well on early mathematics to fully support younger children's awareness of numbers and sizes.
p.1
What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

extend learning opportunities outdoors for children who enjoy spending time outside, to fully reflect their individual interests and preferences increase opportunities for children to develop their awareness of numbers and sizes to support their mathematical development further.
p.2
Inspection activities
The inspector observed activities and care routines. The inspector and the childminder observed and discussed an activity together. The inspector talked to the childminder about aspects of her practice at appropriate points throughout the inspection. The inspector looked at children's assessment records, written comments from parents and evidence of the childminder's training.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The childminder monitors children's progress and welfare effectively and uses this information to guide her self-evaluation and ongoing improvements. For example, since the last inspection, she has developed a wider range of opportunities to help children learn about people different from themselves. Safeguarding is effective. The childminder keeps her knowledge and understanding up to date successfully. For example, she knows what to do in the event of an accident or concerns about a child's welfare.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder teaches children a range of important skills through interesting and stimulating activities and experiences. For example, she encourages babies to listen to different sounds and to understand that things exist when out of sight, as they enjoy exploring musical instruments. The childminder models language well. For example, she narrates children's experiences, introduces a wide range of vocabulary and responds enthusiastically to encourage their language development. The childminder is familiar with children's preferences and interests, and encourages parents to build on these at home to help extend their children's learning.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder tends well to children's welfare needs to keep them comfortable throughout their time with her. For example, she ensures that babies have food and drink, nappy changes and opportunities to sleep in accordance with their individual needs. The childminder supervises children well to help reduce the risk of accidents and incidents. She works effectively in partnership with parents to share information and provide helpful guidance to encourage high levels of consistency between the home and the setting.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Babies quickly build positive relationships with the childminder and communicate well by using sounds, making eye contact and smiling. They develop effective physical skills as they explore objects with their hands and mouths, and hold their own bottles when feeding. Babies enjoy some valuable experiences to learn about the world around them. For example, they enjoy opportunities to learn about animals and the natural world. Babies are well-prepared for their next stages in learning and are developing the early skills necessary to progress successfully towards school life.
