This provision is good
The childminder knows children's individual characteristics and interests well. She undertakes observations and assessments to help support children's progress in all areas of learning. She sets realistic targets to support children's next steps in learning. All children make good progress, given their starting points. The childminder has a thorough understanding of how to help keep children safe. For example, she completes thorough risk assessments and supervises children well. Children enjoy spending time with the childminder. They build warm and trusting relationships with her and with one another in a welcoming atmosphere. The childminder is reflective and evaluates her provision effectively. For example, she actively seeks the views of parents and identifies priorities for improvement to enable her to deliver a good quality service.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not effectively encourage children to complete tasks they are able to do for themselves to enhance their independence and self-care skills. The childminder does not provide regular opportunities for children to learn how to keep themselves safe in the event of an emergency.
p.1
What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

What the setting needs to do to improve further
encourage children to manage simple tasks themselves to increase their independence and self-care skills provide more learning opportunities for children to gain a deeper understanding of how to keep themselves safe in the event of an emergency.

Inspection activities
The inspector spoke to the childminder and the children at appropriate times during the inspection. The inspector observed the childminder's interactions with the children. The inspector sampled a range of documentation, including policies and procedures and children's records. The inspector conducted a tour of the premises that the childminder uses for childminding purposes. The inspector viewed and took into account written feedback from parents.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder has a good understanding of the procedures to follow to help safeguard children. She continues to develop her knowledge and understanding of the different types of risks children might face, including from extreme views and behaviours. The childminder is passionate about her role and responsibility to care for children. She continually updates her knowledge and skills, such as through research and training. For example, she has completed training on assessments and child development. She has greatly improved her planning for children's learning and development, which was a weakness at her last inspection.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
Children make good progress in their learning. The childminder plans and provides a wide range of experiences and activities. She helps children develop their communication skills well. For example, she provides a constant dialogue and asks children questions to encourage their language and thinking. The childminder works effectively with parents. They share information about children's learning, which supports both parties to plan for their development jointly. This successfully supports consistency in children's care and learning. The childminder develops children's creativity well. For example, younger children enjoy exploring musical instruments that they use with enthusiasm to create a range on sounds on drums and xylophones.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder meets the individual needs of children well. For example, she provides babies with a quiet area to sleep in, when needed. This helps to support their emotional well-being. The childminder encourages children's understanding of healthy lifestyles effectively. For instance, she offers healthy balanced meals and opportunities for children to be physically active. Children have daily opportunities to develop their physical skills, such as when they explore balls in the ball pool and learn to take risks on the climbing frame. The childminder provides clear guidance to help children manage their behaviour, such as by encouraging them to share and take turns. She encourages their understanding of the world around them and their social skills. For example, they visit local groups and meet up with other children for play dates.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children are well prepared for their next stage of learning and move to school. They develop early literacy skills as, for example, the childminder supports them to understand that print carries meaning. Children are keen to build models and persevere in building tall towers. They develop good mathematical skills, such as by singing songs that support their knowledge of counting and mathematical language for positioning.
