This provision is good

 Children benefit from a welcoming and caring learning environment where they feel safe and secure. They quickly settle and make friends. Children's behaviour is good.  Staff work well with parents and other early years providers to help ensure progression and continuity of care and learning. They help to prepare children well for the next stage of their learning.  The staff are enthusiastic about the support they provide to each child. For example, they attend well to children's needs and offer extra support to help them try new experiences and engage well in play with others.  Staff help children adopt healthy living routines. For instance, children know about the importance of personal hygiene and how fruits and water are good for them.  Parents are delighted with the reliable service that staff provide and the warm care and support their children receive.  Managers offer ongoing support and professional development opportunities for all

staff. They regularly assess staff practice to ensure they consistently promote children's care and meet their learning needs effectively.

p.1

It is not yet outstanding because:

 At times, children do not have enough opportunity to broaden their awareness of different people and their communities.

p.1

What the setting needs to do to improve further

To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

 broaden the range of opportunities to help children learn about other people, communities and cultures.

p.2

Inspection activities

 The inspector observed activities in all parts of the out-of-school provision.  The inspector spoke to some members of staff and children at appropriate times during the inspection and held meetings with the management team.  The inspector took account of the views of parents spoken to during the inspection.  The inspector looked at children's records, planning documentation and the provision's policies and procedures, including those related to the suitability of staff.

p.2

Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good

Safeguarding is effective. Robust recruitment procedures ensure adults working with children are suitably checked. Staff have a good knowledge of child protection practices and understand the correct procedures to follow if they have any welfare concerns about a child. The manager plans activities with staff, supports children in their play and monitors staff's performance closely through regular observations of teaching and learning. Staff make good use of training opportunities to increase their knowledge and skills and to enhance good practice. Managers have refined their systems for self-evaluation to highlight strengths and identify what needs improving. They take account of the views of parents, children and school staff to help develop their service. Managers have been successful in meeting the recommendations from the last inspection.

p.3

Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good

Staff plan and provide interesting experiences to suit children's needs and interests. They interact well with children and offer suggestions to extend their learning. Children listen attentively and respond well to instructions. They are interested and motivated to try. For example, they tackle complex puzzles, learn to sort and match, and help each other solve problems. Children engage well in stories and talk about their favourite characters and events. They happily sing and dance to music. Staff welcome parents into the provision and give them suitable feedback about how their children have been. Children make good comments on their favourite activities and share with their parents how much they have enjoyed playing with their friends.

p.3

Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good

Staff share the behaviour policies and procedures with parents and children so that they are clear about their expectations. They talk to children respectfully, and consistently promote positive behaviour. Children are polite and respect the feelings and views of others. They mix well, share resources fairly and take turns. Older children show consideration to the young ones, and help them try new activities and explore resources safely. Children say they enjoy outdoor play. They learn about their own personal safety, such as through outings where they learn to cross roads safely. Staff undertake regular checks on the premises and resources to help children remain safe and secure.
