This provision is good
Since the last inspection, the childminder has made good improvements to address previous actions. The assessment procedures and partnerships to support children's development are more effective. The childminder reflects well on her practice and demonstrates a good capacity for ongoing development. The childminder monitors children's progress well. She clearly identifies children's current and next stages of development. Effective planning for a wide variety of educational activities successfully encourages children to learn and make good progress from their starting points. Effective communication with parents, other settings and agencies enables the childminder to meet the individual needs of children well. The childminder provides good continuity in children's care and learning. Children are safe and well cared for in the secure and stimulating premises. They make confident choices in their good use of the toys and equipment.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not consistently organise activities effectively to enable children to concentrate fully without other distractions, such as at story time. The childminder sometimes misses opportunities to provide more mathematical challenges for older children to increase their learning about shapes and counting further.
p.1
What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

p.2
Inspection activities
The inspector observed the childminder and children in their indoor activities. The inspector held discussions with the childminder. The inspector read the childminder's self-evaluation form and feedback from parents. The inspector checked documentation, including the register, insurance and training certificates. The inspector viewed the safety of the premises.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder completes relevant training to refresh her secure knowledge of child protection procedures. She updates her policies and procedures and keeps parents clearly informed of any amendments so that they are clear about her practices and how she supports their children's welfare. Self-evaluation is effective and includes the views of parents to help the childminder identify areas to develop. For example, the childminder has improved the format of her assessment records to share with parents. The childminder uses ideas from the internet well to develop her skills. This has led her to increase the range of resources for children and extend the physical play opportunities in the garden.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder provides good support to children in their activities to encourage their development effectively. For example, children concentrate well as they use plastic tweezers to transfer items from one place to another. They develop good hand-eye control and coordination to support their early writing skills. Children show great enthusiasm as they sing, do action rhymes and play musical instruments. They retell popular stories with confidence to others. The childminder provides a wealth of information for parents about their children's activities. They work well together, for example, to support children's self- care and communication skills. The childminder communicates well with other settings and agencies to help children's development.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children follow good routines, which support their independence and skills for school. For example, older children learn to recognise their name as they register themselves as present each day. Toddlers enjoy being with older children and like to join in. For instance, they snuggle up to the childminder to look at pictures and listen to story time. The childminder takes children on various outings to increase their play experiences. Children enjoy trips to the park, beach and groups. The childminder teaches children how to use equipment properly and about road safety.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children are very happy and thoroughly enjoy being with the childminder. They have good friendships and play well together. Children share ideas and toys, such as when they decide to play an imaginative game of 'doctors'. They develop good social skills and become increasingly confident in their independence. For example, children like to peel their fruit and help with tasks. Children make good progress and are well prepared for school.
