This provision is good
The childminder demonstrates a strong desire to provide good quality care and learning for children. Together with her co-minder, they evaluate their own and each other's practice to make improvements. The childminder regularly attends training to extend her knowledge and skills. Children behave well. The childminder promotes the use of good manners and encourages children to share and take turns with activities and resources. The childminder gathers detailed information from parents when children first start. She encourages parents to continue to share what they know their child can do at home. She provides regular updates on children's learning. This promotes an effective two-way exchange of information and parents are kept well informed. The childminder uses effective teaching methods to engage children. She is enthusiastic and offers lots of encouragement and praises children's achievements. This helps to
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
On occasion, the childminder places too much focus on making sure children take part in planned activities. She does not always give them enough time to lead and develop their own play and build on their own ideas.

Inspection activities
The inspector viewed the areas of the home used for childminding. The inspector jointly observed and discussed with the childminder the teaching and learning activities provided. The inspector held a number of discussions with the childminder, co-minder and assistant. She looked at relevant documentation and evidence of the suitability of persons living and working in the setting. The inspector spoke to children during the inspection. The inspector spoke to a number of parents and took account of other parents' views through written feedback provided.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder has a secure knowledge and understanding of her responsibilities to protect children. She has attended safeguarding training. This means she knows what action to take should she have any concerns about a child. Furthermore, she makes sure she keeps up to date with mandatory training, such as paediatric first aid. Policies and procedures are detailed and risk assessments are in place. With her co-minder and assistant, the childminder ensures that children are well supervised and play in a safe and secure environment. The childminder monitors the assistant's practice. She makes sure they are clear about their role and responsibilities. The childminder has well-established links with local schools and other settings. She is committed to working together with them to ensure children receive a consistent approach to their care and learning.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The qualified and experienced childminder has a good knowledge and understanding of how children learn. She completes observations and assessments of children's achievements and development. She pinpoints what they need to learn next, in order to build on what they already know and can do. The childminder sits alongside children and joins in with their play. She ensures that she creates an inclusive environment where all children are supported to take part. This includes children who speak English as an additional language. For example, the childminder introduces children's home language alongside English during play and activities. This supports children's understanding and speaking skills in both languages.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder takes care to provide a welcoming and child-friendly environment. She has a good range of toys and resources available for children to use. Children have opportunities to learn about different cultures and festivals through play and activities. This helps to increase children's awareness of the wider world and respect and value difference. Children are provided with a good range of meals and snacks that reflects their individual dietary requirements. They play outside in the childminder's garden or at local parks on a daily basis. This contributes to their good health and provides opportunities for them to build on their physical skills.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children make good progress in their learning and development. They demonstrate increasing levels of independence and understand and follow rules that keep them safe. Children develop their mathematical skills as they play. For example, they successfully count a row of their muddy foot prints and estimate how many scoops of sand they will need to fill a bucket. Children are acquiring the skills needed ready for when they move on to their next stage in learning, including school.
