This provision is good
The childminder evaluates her practice well. For example, she identifies ways to improve and listens to parents' suggestions, making changes to help ensure she meets the needs of children and parents. The childminder helps young children to learn how to communicate well. For example, she repeats words for very young children to learn new vocabulary and talks using simple sentences, giving children time to process what she says and respond. The childminder encourages children's personal well-being successfully. For example, she praises children when they do something well, helping to build their self-esteem. Children develop skills to prepare them for their next stage of learning, including starting school. For example, children have good mathematics skills. Young children use numbers in their play and count well. The childminder takes children on a wide variety of outings. For example, they attend

Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has an up-to-date and secure knowledge of how to identify and report child protection concerns and protect children's welfare. The childminder forms strong partnerships with parents. For example, she gives parents daily feedback and shares children's ongoing achievements and progress. The childminder has a good programme of professional development. For example, she implements good practice she has observed through attending local playgroups, such as encouraging children to get actively involved when reading stories.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder has a good knowledge of the children and their development. For example, she accurately assesses their level of development and plans suitable activities to help them make good progress. The childminder is skilled at including children of all ages in the same activities. For example, she guides young children while building together to learn to share, helps toddlers to learn new language and older children to learn new facts that hold their interest. The childminder helps children to develop good early writing skills. For example, she encourages them to use colouring pens to draw and develop their physical coordination to peel and use stickers to decorate their picture. The childminder develops good relationships with other settings that children attend. For example, she shares children's progress checks and achievements to support consistency in children's learning.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder is calm and affectionate with children and they play happily in her care. She has a good awareness of risk and performs daily and ongoing checks to keep the environment safe for children. In addition, she helps children to learn about keeping themselves safe. For example, when children leave resources on the floor, the childminder encourages them to help her to tidy up to remove them to avoid a slipping hazard. The childminder promotes healthy eating. For example, she offers the children heathy snacks and talks to parents about healthy foods to bring for lunch. The childminder helps children to behave well, for example, explaining how to play carefully with resources.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children make good progress from their starting points. They show good levels of confidence, follow their own interests and extend their learning. They develop independence; for example, they choose from a broad range of interesting resources. Children develop good physical coordination, for example, as they build a farm or complete puzzles.
