This provision is good
The childminder has addressed all the actions and recommendations raised at the last inspection. She has been able to clearly identify and acknowledge weaknesses through effective evaluation of her practice and taking account of the views of parents and children. This has enabled her to devise clear and focussed targets for future development. The childminder has established good links with the schools that children attend, helping her to support continuity in their learning and development. Children enjoy a good variety of activities. The childminder has a clear understanding of how young children learn through their own interests. As a result, children have fun and enjoy their time at the childminder's home. Children are effectively supported in managing their behaviour. They understand the rules for sharing and taking turns. Older children show tolerance and respect for younger ones and help to support their play.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not yet make the most use of opportunities to update her knowledge to the highest possible level. Information about children's achievements is not consistently shared with parents to fully promote continuity of learning between home and the childminder's setting.

Inspection activities
The inspector viewed the areas used for childminding. She observed activities indoors and assessed the impact these have on the quality of provision for children. The inspector spoke with the childminder and children at appropriate times during the inspection. The inspector looked at relevant documentation, such as the childminder's policies and procedures. The inspector took account of the views expressed by parents and children.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The childminder is caring and conscientious and is committed to providing children with a quality experience before and after school and during the school holidays. The arrangements for safeguarding children are effective. The childminder is aware of the procedure to follow should she have any concerns about a child in her care. She ensures that all policies and procedures are effectively implemented into her practice, helping to make sure that children are kept safe and healthy. Children are well supervised at all times. The childminder undertakes required training, such as maintaining a first-aid qualification. In addition, she ensures that she is aware of changes to legislation through online research. However, in order to develop her knowledge and teaching skills to an even higher level, the childminder needs to devise a more ambitious plan for professional development. The childminder has established good relationships with parents and they

p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder provides children with a wealth of exciting opportunities that is matched to their interests and stage of development. The childminder observes children to gain an accurate idea of their capabilities and skills. She competently differentiates activities to ensure that both younger and older children are suitably challenged. Children enjoy art and craft activities. They have access to a very good range of materials and tools, enabling them to manipulate and explore their creative imaginations. Children show high levels of confidence and self-assurance as they talk to the childminder and visitors about what they have made. The childminder happily engages in conversations with children, encouraging them to explore their ideas further. For example, she helps children to decide what they are going to keep in the boxes that they have spent time decorating. Children enjoy initiating their own play. They show ingenuity as they construct a den from pegs

and materials and use it as a base for playing hide and seek. The childminder reminds them of the rules of the game and shares their excitement as they discover each other's hiding places.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children are well cared for in a safe and homely environment where they build secure attachments with the childminder. Good settling-in arrangements ensure that children adapt to their new surroundings with ease, helping to develop their emotional well-being and self-confidence. The childminder is a very good role model to children. She is calm and consistent and constantly praises children for their efforts and achievements. The childminder sensitively supports children who may feel less confident in social situations. Children make choices and decisions about how they spend their time at the childminder's home. They know that if they feel tired, they can snuggle up on the settee. Children are supported to lead a healthy lifestyle.
