Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching during activities and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector and the childminder jointly observed an assistant carrying out an activity with children. The inspector held discussions with the childminder and her assistants. She looked at relevant documentation, such as the childminder's self-evaluation and evidence of the suitability of adults living at the premises. The inspector spoke to parents during the inspection and took account of their views.
p.2

Children are well supported to reach their next stages of development, including school. The childminder helps them to lay the foundations for early writing. For example, three-year-old children are encouraged to develop a love of making marks in the sand. The childminder has a strong emphasis on sharing information with parents. She helps them to understand children's learning and how to guide their development at home.
p.3

She supports their choices and they know that she has exciting ideas of her own. Children show good levels of independence and they are generally motivated to manage care tasks by themselves. The childminder has very good strategies in place to promote children's good cooperation with each other. She consistently offers praise to encourage their positive behaviour.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children are very happy in their play and new children settle with ease. They navigate around the room, independently selecting their own resources. Children have good listening and attention skills for their ages. They especially enjoy story time and group singing games. Children make good progress from their starting points.
