Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good

Safeguarding is effective. The childminder knows the procedures to follow if she has a concern about a child's welfare. She understands how to keep the premises free from hazards so that children can play safely. The childminder has taken steps to improve her knowledge since the last inspection. For example, she is undertaking training on supporting early speech and language development. The childminder includes the views of parents to reflect on her practice, such as by taking on their ideas to adapt activities for children. The childminder works well with other settings that children attend' for example, she helps to develop children's early reading skills. This provides consistency for children's learning and contributes to maintaining good outcomes for children.

p.3

Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good

The childminder understands how children learn and develop. She offers a variety of activities to keep children engaged, such as seasonal crafts, making snowmen and decorating snowflakes. The childminder joins in with children's play. For example, she challenges them to count the number of bricks they have used to build a tower. She introduces new words to encourage younger children's language development. Children develop an interest in literacy as they enjoy looking through books together. The childminder observes and assesses children's development well. She uses this information to plan for each child's next steps in learning. She regularly shares information with parents about their children's progress, such as through daily discussions.

p.3

Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good

The childminder provides a welcoming environment where children are confident to explore and learn. Children enjoy secure relationships with the childminder. Settling-in arrangements are flexible for new children. The childminder gathers information from parents about their children's starting points to support their well-being and to plan for their care and learning from the outset. Children's behaviour is good and they feel safe in the childminder's care. The childminder regularly encourages kindness between children. For example, she spends time helping them to negotiate taking turns successfully. The childminder supports children to learn about healthy lifestyles. For example, she provides nutritious foods, such as fresh fruit and salad, with snacks.

p.3
