This provision is good
The childminder evaluates her setting well to maintain the good standard of service she provides and to make improvements. For example, she completes regular training, such as developing her skills in helping children make even better progress with their communication and language development. The childminder makes accurate assessments of children's progress and plans appropriate next steps for their learning, considering their interests and developmental stage. She monitors children's development well to identify any gaps in their learning. The childminder builds good relationships with children. She is calm and caring, and children are happy, secure and ready to learn. The childminder makes good use of opportunities to support children's mathematical understanding. For example, she helps children develop their understanding of number as she encouraged them to count scoops of cereals, making links with children's ages.

This provision is good
Children make good progress and develop a good range of skills in preparation for their future learning.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder sometimes completes tasks for children that they could manage by themselves. The childminder does not recognise when children's understanding of the world can be challenged even further to help them make even better progress.
p.1
What the setting needs to do to improve further

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching indoors and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector spoke with the childminder and children at appropriate times during the inspection and carried out a joint observation of the teaching and learning. The inspector viewed the areas of the home used by children. The inspector looked at relevant documentation, such as policies and children's records. The inspector took account of parents' views.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has a good understanding of how to protect children and has clear procedures in place if she has any concerns. She regularly updates her knowledge about child protection issues. The childminder understands the importance of working with other providers to ensure continuity and good outcomes for children. Partnerships with parents are good. The childminder keeps parents well informed about children's welfare and learning. They work well together to support children's learning at home and in the setting. For example, she encourages parents to share dual language books to value children's home language.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder uses successful ways to extend children's language development. For example, she repeats children's speech, models longer sentences and asks questions to support children's conversation skills. The childminder helps children make good progress with their physical development. For instance, children concentrated as they used tweezers and spoons to move and scoop cereal. The childminder encourages children to consider the differences and similarities between themselves and other people. For example, she takes children out to places in the local community to meet new people and encourages them to talk about their families and home lives.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder takes time to help new children settle. She works closely with parents to find out about their children's individual interests and routines. The childminder provides a good range of stimulating resources and activities. Children are motivated and confidently make choices about what they want to play. The childminder is a good role model and provides children with clear guidance about what is appropriate behaviour. Children behave well. The childminder supports children's emotional well-being effectively. For example, she gives children lots of praise and encouragement. The childminder supports healthy lifestyles well. For instance, she teaches children about good hygiene routines and provides them with healthy snacks and regular exercise.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children are curious, confident and fully engaged in their learning. For example, they used their imaginations as they created snowy weather scenes and sprinkled flour onto farmyard scenes. Children make good progress with their early literacy skills. For instance, children matched toy animals to the images and labels on charts and concentrated well as they wrote their Christmas cards. Children develop good social skills and talk happily with friends and adults, expressing their ideas clearly.
