This provision is good
The childminder has made successful improvements since her previous inspection. She has a current paediatric first aid certificate. The childminder evaluates her practice well. She identifies areas of weakness and set targets for improvement. This helps develop the quality of the provision and provides better outcomes for children. The childminder supports children's literacy development effectively. For example, she provides a range of opportunities for children to increase their reading and writing skills. Children make good progress and gain the skills they need for their move to school. The childminder and her assistant provide a safe, stimulating and welcoming environment. Children are happy and enjoy their time with them. The childminder and her assistant offer clear guidance to help children manage their behaviour. For example, they remind them about sharing, taking turns and have high

expectations of children's behaviour. Children learn that their views are of value and important. For example, the childminder and her assistant offer children a range of choices during their play.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not make the most of opportunities to help children learn about each other's backgrounds and diversity. The childminder does not consistently support children to do things for themselves and encourage their independence further.

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching and the impact this has on children's learning and development. The inspector viewed all areas of the premises used for childminding. The inspector viewed a range of documentation, including first aid qualifications and suitability checks. The inspector held discussions with the childminder at appropriate times throughout the inspection. The inspector took account of parents' written views.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
Safeguarding is effective. The childminder and her assistant have a secure understanding of the signs that would cause them concern about a child's welfare and the processes to follow. The childminder knows what to do in the event of any allegations against her, the household members or the assistant. She improves her knowledge and skills. For example, she attends training and networking sessions. The childminder oversees the work of her assistant well. For instance, she supports her continuing professional development and holds regular discussions. They successfully monitor children's progress from their starting points, such as by using guidance documents. This helps identify any gaps in children's development early. Parents comment that they are very happy with the service the childminder and her assistant offer.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder and her assistant support children's learning and development effectively. They use the information from their assessments well to support children's next stage in learning. The childminder and her assistant successfully build children's mathematical development, such as by counting and using a range of numeracy language. They ask children questions to help them think for themselves and follow their lead in play. This helps to keep children's motivation and interest in their learning. The childminder and her assistant provide regular opportunities to involve parents in their children's learning. For example, they have daily discussions and share observation sheets. This helps parents to continue their children's learning at home.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder and her assistant are sensitive and responsive to children's emotional well-being. They provide children with extra care and attention when needed. Children form secure attachments and positive relationships with them. The childminder and her assistant support children's physical health well. For instance, they provide nutritious meals and snacks and daily opportunities to be physically active. Children learn to keep themselves safe. For example, the childminder and her assistant practise regular emergency evacuation procedures with the children.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children make progress that is appropriate for their age. They build their listening and attention skills well. For example, children sing and do the actions to nursery rhymes together. They successfully develop their imagination during their play, such as dressing up and creating their own stories with small world figures. Children paint pine cones and turn the pages of a book, which helps to support their physical development effectively.
