This provision is good
The childminder uses her observations and assessments of children's learning to plan activities that challenge them successfully. She furthers individual children's learning effectively while she supports their play. Children are cared for in a welcoming, inviting environment. They explore their surroundings, make discoveries and test resources, which help satisfy their natural curiosity. The childminder has a very warm and caring personality. Young children regularly approach her for a cuddle and thoroughly enjoy individual time with her. She shares her time effectively between the children, meeting all their emotional needs at all times. Partnerships between the childminder and parents are strong, ensuring that they work successfully together to meet children's care and learning needs. The childminder reviews her provision well in order to improve. She welcomes good practice ideas shared with her by other early years providers.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
On occasion, the childminder does not read stories that fully engage children's interest.
p.1

review books read at story time so that children are consistently interested and engaged.
p.2
Inspection activities
The inspector observed the childminder with the children. The inspector spoke to the childminder at appropriate times during the inspection. The inspector sampled documentation including policies, risk assessments and children's records. The inspector reviewed the childminder's self-evaluation. The inspector took account of the views of parents through their written comments.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder is knowledgeable about her responsibilities to protect children from harm. The childminder keeps up to date with changes in childcare; she identifies gaps in her knowledge and swiftly identifies training to overcome this. For example, the childminder has completed a full level 3 qualification since her last inspection and uses her new knowledge to plan activities that are more challenging for children. The childminder reviews children's achievements and progress consistently. She ensures children receive the support they need to make good progress in their learning.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder knows the children well and generally builds on their interests to plan for their next steps in learning. Children are very interested in vehicles and the childminder makes use of this preference to encourage the learning of colours, shapes and numbers. She adapts activities skilfully to maintain children's focus and learning. The childminder develops children's language skills effectively throughout all activities. For example, she encourages them to repeat words so that their vocabulary increases. The childminder interprets the wants and needs of young children well as they communicate through gestures, signing, expression and the tone of their voice.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children thoroughly enjoy the relationships they share with one another and with the childminder. They learn how to show care and concern for their friends as they play. For example, they share out bricks when building towers and understand to wait their turn when wanting to try on different slippers. The childminder supports children's good health especially well. Children are learning about a healthy diet. The childminder talks to them about how good foods give us energy and the childminder cooks children nutritious meals. The childminder supports children's physical development well. For example, they do yoga together where they learn to balance and move their bodies in different ways. Children learn about the wider world as they help to care for the childminder's animals and visit local attractions.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children develop good skills in readiness for the move on to pre-school and school. They are prepared well emotionally for moving on, for example, as they interact with other adults and children at groups. Young children become confident speakers, making good progress from early babbling to using words to express their ideas. Older children's vocabulary is good and they readily engage in conversation with the childminder. Their pencil control is developing well. They are starting to draw recognisable pictures.
