p.1
This provision requires improvement. It is not yet good because:
The childminder does not meet the requirement for keeping a record of children's attendance. The record of the hours that children are in the childminder's care is not accurate. This is also a breach of requirements for the Childcare Register. The childminder does not provide clear details to parents about her procedures for collecting children from school. Therefore, parents are not aware of who is responsible for their children at that time. The childminder's self-evaluation is not effective in identifying when requirements are not met.
p.1
It has the following strengths
The childminder provides a safe and welcoming environment. Children build good relationships with the childminder and her assistant. They enjoy one another's company after their day at school. The childminder plans a range of activities linked to children's interests and children are keen to take part.

Inspection activities
The inspector observed children's activities and the childminder's interaction with children. The inspector talked to the childminder, her assistant and the children. The inspector looked at a sample of documents, which included the attendance records, agreements with parents, and the safeguarding policy. The inspector took account of parents' views, obtained from letters they had written.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management requires improvement
The childminder shares information about some of her policies and procedures through conversation and by completing written agreements with parents. However, she does not ensure parents have accurate information about her procedures relating to school collections, or record children's attendance times accurately. The childminder keeps up to date with changes and extends her knowledge. For example, she has gained early years teaching status since the previous inspection, which has developed her understanding about child development and how children learn. The childminder monitors her assistant's practice appropriately. They regularly discuss and evaluate children's activities to adapt and improve them for children's enjoyment. However, the childminder had not identified that she was not meeting some welfare requirements. Safeguarding is effective. The childminder knows about child protection issues and the procedures to follow if she has
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder provides a friendly environment where children can relax or be active after their school day. Children cheerfully chat together as they express their ideas and talk about their day. The childminder is interested in what they have to say and plans activities according to what they like to do. For example, at the inspection children were enthusiastic to create Christmas tree ornaments. They enjoyed mixing various types of paints and colours as they decorated the models they had moulded from dough. The childminder joined in, encouraging them to think and notice changes. Children enjoy solving problems. For example, they play board games that involve counting, predicting and hand-to-eye coordination.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare require improvement
The childminder is in breach of requirements for safeguarding and welfare; however, this does not have a significant impact on children's safety and well-being. Children are happy and settled. Children behave well. They take turns and listen to one another. The childminder and her assistant regularly praise children, helping to boost their self-esteem and confidence. The childminder helps to raise children's awareness of people's differences, for example, through discussion as she sensitively challenges stereotypical comments. The childminder supports children's understanding of healthy eating. For example, she provides nutritious options for snacks and meals and talks to the children about the effects on their bodies. Children have regular opportunities to be active in the fresh air, such as visits to the nearby play park.
