to providing good levels of care, learning and safety for children and their families.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not provide enough opportunities for children to become aware of other people, places and communities beyond their own. This does not fully promote their understanding of the wider world. The childminder does not reflect on the impact of the assistants' teaching well enough to help sharply focus professional development and raise achievement for children to the highest levels.

What the setting needs to do to improve further
To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching during activities indoors and outdoors and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector completed a joint observation with the childminder. The inspector looked at relevant documentation, such as learning profiles for children, the childminder's self-evaluation and evidence of the childminder's, co-childminder's and her assistants' suitability to work with children. The inspector obtained verbal and written feedback from parents and took account of their views.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The childminder is ambitious and has high expectations of herself, her co-childminder and her assistants. They have regular meetings to reflect on how well they meet the needs of the families who attend and discuss any changes to their policies. This helps them to work together as team and promote continuity for children. Safeguarding is effective. The childminder understands her responsibilities to keep children safe. She attends regular training with her team to stay up to date with child protection procedures. The childminder carries out daily risk assessments on areas used by children in order to minimise hazards. The childminder monitors the progress children make across all areas of learning. This helps to identify and close any possible gaps in children's learning. Parents are positive about the service the childminder provides. They are happy with the amount of support they receive and the nurturing, safe environment.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder is experienced and has a good understanding of child development. She helps children to be enthusiastic and engaged in their experiences. For example, older children explore in the gloop tray outdoors. The childminder encourages children to think critically and develop their estimation and number skills as they fill containers. Young children enjoy the sensory and creative experiences as they explore glue and shiny materials. The childminder uses her detailed observations, along with their interests, to plan for the next steps in their development. Children are keen, active learners. The childminder collects information about children's prior achievements from parents and other settings. She uses this to contribute to their initial assessments. The childminder carries out the progress check for children aged between two and three years.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder helps children to grow in confidence and regularly praises them for their efforts. Children have good levels of self-esteem and are willing to keep trying to develop new skills. For example, the childminder helps young children to develop their communication skills using their favourite story. She praises children when they attempt to repeat difficult words and sensitively models language for them. The childminder promotes children's good health. She cooks a range of healthy meals for them and ensures they have regular access to the outdoor environment. There are effective procedures in place to help children settle in. The childminder has developed an All about me booklet to gather information from parents. This helps her to get to know children and meet their care needs effectively. The childminder and her team manage children's behaviour positively and consistently. Children are well mannered and behaviour is good.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children make consistently good progress in relation to their starting points. They are working within the stages typically expected for their age. Children are enthusiastic and willing to join in with a range of activities. They develop the skills they need in preparation for their eventual move to school and are particularly confident when using numbers.
