Strong partnerships are in place with other settings involved in the children's care. The childminder is warm and loving. Children respond well to her kind nature. She is very mindful of children's individual care needs and personalities. Children confidently explore the childminder's home and freely choose from toys and resources that motivate them to learn. Close, positive relationships are in place with parents. The childminder speaks to them every day about their children's time in her care. She shares children's achievements and they work closely together to meet children's ongoing learning needs. The childminder considers what she does well and what she would like to do to improve. She identifies training that will help develop her knowledge and skills in

The inspector looked at relevant documentation, such as the childminder's training certificates and evidence of the suitability of adults living in the childminder's home.

The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder regularly attends safeguarding training to refresh her knowledge and understanding of child protection. She has secure procedures in place for reporting her concerns to the appropriate authorities. Adults living in the home have undertaken suitability checks. The childminder evaluates her practice and prioritises her areas for development. She welcomes advice and support from local authority advisers. The childminder undertakes risk assessments on all areas of her home and is mindful of any possible risks on outings. This helps to ensure that children are cared for in a safe and suitable environment.

She provides a clear narrative in activities and repeats the words children say for reinforcement. Children really enjoy listening to stories and looking at books with the childminder. She encourages children to think as she asks them questions about what is happening in the pictures they can see. Children enjoy sensory play opportunities. They make footprints with water on a special mat. They giggle and squeal with excitement as they splash in the bowl and jump across the mat. Children participate in regular art and craft activities. They relish the difficult task of peeling the backing off the stickers to add

Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children welcome the childminder's interaction in activities. They seek out cuddles with her and enjoy sitting on her knee to complete some activities. Children are familiar with all aspects of the childminder's home and the daily routines in place. They tidy up after themselves, putting the rubbish collected after craft activities in the bin independently. The childminder offers positive encouragement during children's play, helping them to learn right from wrong. The childminder provides foods that promote a healthy diet and closely follows children's medical and dietary requirements. Children spend time in the fresh air every day. They are able to access a good range of equipment that supports their physical development in the garden and regularly take walks around a local reservoir.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children make good progress and learn the skills needed in readiness for the next stage of their learning, such as starting pre-school.
