This provision is good
Children make good progress in their learning and development from their time of starting in the childminder's care. This is because the childminder has a good knowledge and understanding of how children learn, and about their different stages of development. Children are happy, settled and well cared for. The childminder's caring approach enables children to form close attachments, which supports their emotional well-being. Children's behaviour and self-esteem are managed well, and the childminder offers positive praise. The childminder teaches children to respect one another, and to recognise and value each other's similarities and differences. The childminder supports children's communication and language well; this includes giving recognition to support those children with English as an additional language. Partnerships with parents are good. The childminder shares valuable information with

It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not make use of opportunities for children to develop further their skills for early writing. The childminder does not extend partnerships with all early years settings that children attend, to further support children's individual learning and care needs.

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the childminder's interaction with children, and spoke to the childminder and children when appropriate. The inspector and childminder observed children as they played freely with resources organised for them. The inspector looked at the childminder's documents used to reflect on self-evaluation, and took account of parents' written feedback and local authority feedback. The inspector looked at some of children's records, and policies and procedures shared with parents. The inspector looked at areas of the home used for childminding and some play materials and equipment used by the children.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder has a good understanding of the procedures to protect a child's welfare. She shows a high regard for children's safety. The childminder monitors children's individual development well. She is proactive in providing various activities that help children make good progress in learning. The childminder checks resources and environments regularly to make sure they remain suitable and safe for children. She regularly monitors and evaluates all aspects of her provision. Parents' views are valued and respected as part of her self-evaluation process. The childminder takes positive steps to update her knowledge and skills such as through training. Since her last inspection, she has worked well to bring about improvements in children's learning experiences, and she maintains accurate records. Feedback from parents during the inspection reflects positively on the service the childminder provides.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder has high expectations of children and is fully responsive to their learning needs. The childminder supports children's communication and language development very well. She competently supports children's developing use of English and other languages. She gives children time to speak and repeat words to support their emerging language. For example, young children enjoy looking at books with the childminder and learn to name objects. The childminder provides children with carefully selected resources to engage children's interest in early problem solving. For example, children learn to complete puzzles or work out how to use the ball maze. Children's interest in early reading is supported well. For example, they spend long periods looking at books that are favourites of theirs.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
Children develop the confidence to make new relationships and broaden their learning experiences. For example, they enjoy attending different social groups and venues with the childminder. Children behave very well, and they show a good understanding of sharing toys with each other from a young age. The childminder engages children in enjoyable activities to develop an understanding of healthy eating. For example, children help make fishcakes for lunch and grow vegetables to eat. The childminder encourages children to maintain a healthy lifestyle such as with daily outdoor physical play in the range of parks local to the childminder's home.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children make good progress in their learning and they develop skills to help them prepare for the next stage in their education. The childminder helps children to develop good levels of concentration, learn to count and make choices in their play.
