Inspection activities
The inspector looked at the areas of the premises that are used for childminding. The inspector observed teaching and learning activities and assessed the impact these have on the children. The inspector took account of the views of a parent detailed in references. The inspector spoke with the childminder and children at appropriate times throughout the inspection. The inspector looked at children's development records and a selection of policies and procedures. She spoke to the childminder about her plans for improvement. The inspector sampled a range of documentation including evidence of the suitability of adults living on the premises and the childminder's qualification.

Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has a highly secure knowledge of how to identify possible signs that may be a cause for concern including from extreme views. She knows how to respond to concerns in a timely and appropriate way. The childminder incisively evaluates her teaching practices and updates her skills. She meets with other childminders and reflects on her practice, and works with her local authority to help her sharply focus areas for improvement. For example, she improved hygiene practices which helped extend children's independence even further. Parents are extremely appreciative of the high levels of care and learning their children receive. The childminder appreciates how to extend her excellent partnerships with other settings children attend even further.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is outstanding
The childminder plans meticulous provisions for children across the areas of learning and she incisively assesses the impact of her learning environments. The childminder encourages children to develop outstanding communication and understanding skills. For example, she uses incisive questioning skills as children explored what happened to the bowl of water they left outside overnight and how the dinosaurs froze in the ice. The childminder threads mathematical concepts through play very successfully. For example, children learn about simple calculation as they explore numbers. Children work together to complete activities and to develop their thinking skills, for instance, as they discuss past experiences. The childminder observes children in great detail and successfully uses the information to inform her precise assessments of their progress.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are outstanding
Exceptional arrangements are in place to support children's health, well-being and physical development. Children have an excellent awareness of how to keep themselves healthy, for example they say that 'hopping and running outside' keeps them fit. Children have an excellent range of nutritious, home-cooked meals. They develop excellent independence skills and manage their personal care very effectively. Children have remarkable levels of confidence which are supported by the inspiring organisation of the environment. The childminder is respectful in her approach and values each child's individuality and uniqueness. The childminder has excellent settling-in procedures. This helps her to get to know children and meet their care needs exceptionally well.
p.3
Outcomes for children are outstanding
All children make rapid progress in their learning from their starting points. Children have excellent opportunities to access outdoor learning and explore the local environment. For example, they visit a forest school where they learn about the natural world. Children have an excellent awareness of the wider society and learn to consider the needs of others.
